A good supervisor and business owner can spot these types of problems and assist the group to overcome them. But, part of being on a team is knowing the role that you play. In particular, you want to ensure that each person who is a member of the group needs to meet specific aims.

What does it take to be an effective team player?

While you work towards team building, be sure to teach these aspects which are critical for maintaining an effective team.

1. Each team member is able, willing and does provide ideas and solutions to the problems that are presented. The team member has to be willing to do this and given the opportunity to do so as well.

2. Each person is able to be accepted not only for the things they do right, but also for the differences that they have. Individuals should be respected for the differences that they have as this only contributes to the entire group's success.

3. Each own needs also to illustrate this same level of respect for others. They have to value the ideas that others have and to listen to the contributions that others provide. There should be no level of competition but rather a level of respect mutual in the group.

4. Each group member should be able to ask questions and to have those questions answered by other group members in a respectful manner. This opens the door and allows the ability for the group to work as a whole to tackle concerns.

5. The team should be comprised of people who know and make commitments and then keep them. If there is a performer on the team that lacks the ability to meet aims, or only does not abide by the requirements, that person could hold back the rest. therefore, each effective member should be able to meet their responsibility levels.

6. Each team ember needs to strive for the win:win relationship. Rather, they should be able to be flexible so that everyone can win at what they need and wish.

As you can see, team building often encompasses a large mix of different tasks. It often requires that every member work together and that everyone be on the same page towards the aims of the business. When you can work to build these types of skills within your group, you will have found a team that can reach your aims often.
