How many times have you wondered how to please your boss or how to make an impact at the next seminar or what to wear on your next office party? Although you may find a hoard of male designers, the fact is there are not many men's designs. Dressing for success is an art. Just as we like our ladies to be dressed perfectly for the occasion, it is imperative that we too dress appropriately. How to dress for success is as important as how to achieve success

Dress For Success

You need to dress right, look credible, qualified and ready for the trophy. For the special occasion, don't just get random clothes from off the rack stores. Since these are made keeping in mind a wide range of men, they need not necessarily fit you perfectly. Purchase outfits that fit you perfectly, try them once before you make the final purchase. If you are unhappy with the outcome or just not satisfied with the range, head to your tailor for customized shirt, pant and jacket. After all you are celebrating your hard earned success so you may as well do it in style.

Present a professional image with long sleeves, even if you are working in hot climates. Folded sleeves will present a more formidable you, than short sleeve shirts. Keep a collection of white, off white and light blue dress shirts, either in plain or understated stripes and square patterns. With other colors you will have the problem of matching ties and may end up increasing your range of ties or wearing the same shirt and tie on all occasions.

Always remember, your pants should be long enough to cover your socks and your socks should cover your shins even with your legs crossed. If your pant is tailored, get them to put on cuffs on the pants which will make it hang nicely without climbing up your legs when walking.

Keep the colors of your ensemble neutral or dark. Accentuate your style statement with a bright colored tie with understated patterns. Keep cartoon ties and loud pattern ties at bay; they will make you look amateurish. Ties should touch your belt line, any longer and you will look from the 40s and shorter will make you belong to the 70s.

Match the color of your socks to your pants and belts with your shoes. Always go for formal belts, suspenders are forbidden. Choose dark shoes depending on your outfit, brown and black are the best bet.

Minimalist accessories lie cufflinks and your favorite cologne (which or course should not be strong or overwhelming) should complete the picture.

Your entire outlook including your shoes and belt should be neat and clean and most importantly wrinkle free. Even the costliest shirt or jacket will make you look careless if it is rumpled or stained. Spend on dry cleaning if need be, though expensive it will be worth the money.
