A man is considered short when he is five feet six inches or lesser. Keeping this in mind they need to develop dress habits that can maximize their height visually. Most short men feel diffident due to their height, but by following a few short men's fashion norm they can add height visually. Also dressing well boosts the confidence of any man.

Short Men Fashion Tips

The range of men's clothing and men's fashion is quite limited, and for shot men the range may get even smaller.

User more outfits in vertical lines this creates an optical illusion of tallness. The most common designs in these would be pin stripes and thin corduroys.

Use monochromatic color scheme a short build clad in same or similar hues from top to toe visually lengthens the height. One of the best examples is a suit worn in same hues as it increases height. Blend the color of your shoes, socks and trousers to get a similar effect. Even with jeans stick to tops and jeans in same color or color shades, like light colored t-shirt with light colored jeans and dark colored t-shirt with dark colored jeans.

Slimming down the silhouette is vital for a short built person, which is why well fitted clothes and slim pants are a must all the time. Also the legs of the trousers should have as little breaks as possible.

Wear slightly longer tops such as suits and blazers. They should drape below your buttocks to give the impression of added inches. To add the lengthening effect to your arms, show more cuffs under your suit's arm.

Peak lapels, v-necks and diagonally striped slim ties can help lengthen your torso.

Always wear your trousers on your normal waistline. Spread collar shirts and pointy collars also look good on short built men.

Clean simple design dress shoes with thin soles are your best bet. For the sleek look you can opt for plain toe oxford shoes. Avoid chunky soles. A dress boot can also help you add height. Wing tipped shoes and tasseled moccasins may look good with suits and sports coat. Socks should be the same color as your trouser or a shade darker. Avoid wearing shoe lifts, these do add to the height but may make you look desperate to gain height.

Sweaters are also gaining popularity amongst the short built fashionable men. Avoid bulky sized sweaters and stick to thin styles and trim fits preferably with a V-necked collar. Also avoid heavy gauge and chunky cable knits as they could overwhelm your figure. Choose from subtle and small patterns.

Short Men's Clothing To Avoid

Avoid pants with cuffs. Also avoid using different colors for your ensemble. Horizontally striped tees, turtle necks and bow ties, baggy tees, shirts and jeans are an absolute no. Never wear trousers on high waist or low waist. Omit double breasted suits and jackets. Tuck in your t-shirts and shirts as much as possible. Avoid having more than 3 buttons on your blazers and cardigans. Long coats and suspenders make short men look shorter, so these are best avoided.
