Mozilla create a number of software solutions that are in direct competition with Microsoft Internet Explorer; such as the Firefox browser and the Thunderbird E-Mail software. The level of competition they represent could be relevant to the question is Mozilla spyware?
Mozilla are an extremely reputable company with very effective and highly secure software solutions. The Firefox browser is believed to safer and more secure than Internet Explorer and not only because it's a stand alone application and not integrated into Windows like IE. So is it likely that Mozilla would include spyware in any of their software?
The real truth is that spyware is actually everywhere. If you truly want to avoid it then the only answer is to not use the internet. The age of information is upon us and that means all information is valuable but information about people and their habits is like online gold. That information is collected in more ways than you think and is sold on to interested parties i.e. advertising companies.
But is it reasonable to assume that Mozilla uses spyware to collect data in this way? I don't think so. Apart from all of that Firefox is still a safer option than the competition. Google Chrome definitely does collect information and it's been proven, Google themselves have done this for years every time people use their services. They make huge amounts of money via third party advertisers.
It's a similar story with Microsoft. They use all sorts of data collection techniques to prevent software pirating and personalise automatic updates for individual computers. The backdoor that they do it through has long been the security flaw that plagues windows and allows unwanted attention from would be hackers and malicious code.
So on that basis is it a fair assumption that Mozilla may have some association with spyware? Again I don't think so. It's always been one of the mainstays of Mozilla and its software that it is more secure and reduces spyware and the problems associated with it. The Firefox browser is a perfect case in point and its users experience far less security issues.
One of the best recommendations to people either worried about or actually experiencing spyware problems is to switch to Firefox because of its enhanced security features. It is a known fact that Mozilla take pride in the lack of spyware that affects their software and they work hard to keep it like that.
In case you haven't got it yet: Is Mozilla Spyware? No it definitely isn't!
