Ah, the joys of being a struggling artist. You slave all day over a hot canvas, come up with your masterpiece of color and then hope and pray that somebody, somewhere, will recognize your talent and buy it. Problem is, you haven’t got the slightest idea of how to go about selling your art work. Well, in this article, I’m going to share a few tips that just might help. Keep reading to find out more.

Probably the most important tip I can give you is this…give it time. So many artists get discouraged after just a few weeks. Let me be perfectly honest with you, it’s a competitive world out there. For every artist who is successful, there are at least a thousand who are struggling to get even an ounce of recognition. Those who have the determination to stick it out (easier said than done) are the ones who are ultimately successful. In many cases, it’s simply a matter of who is the most persistent.

Another important thing to do is to create for yourself a web presence. Put an art blog up on the Internet. Have photos of your artwork so that people can see what it looks like. You never know. Somebody might just stumble upon your blog, like what they see, and become a customer. Point is, if you’re not visible, you’re not going to make any sales. So putting up a blog with as many samples as you can put up there is critical to success.

You probably also want to network with other artists. Believe it or not, you are not all in competition with each other. There are different buyers out there for the many different artistic styles. By networking with other artists, you may very well make contacts with those who have customers for your particular style of artwork and visa versa. You’ll get a lot farther in this business making friends than going it alone.
