Everyone has an assortment of special days. They might be birthdays, anniversaries, graduation days, family reunions, days special events occurred in your life or holidays. Create a list for yourself of these days or events.

Pick one for yourself and record how you spent or spend your special days and see if those events make the event more memorable to you as you review what happened or who you were with at the time.  If they are days that you celebrate every year, see if you can increase your memories by adding something else to the celebration.

Record for yourself as you take the time to plan the events surrounding how you celebrate your special days, what might be the activities that you would include or like to include and who are the people who will be joining you or if you will be by yourself.  Allow as much detail about the whole series of happenings from the planning to the completion of the celebration.

If you can do this in advance of the actual day there might be other things that you can include that will make the event even more special to you.  With a bit of advanced planning and adding additional activities to the event will give you more of an appreciation of the event and why you like to celebrate it and this will enhance your experience when you actually hold the event or celebration.

It can also help you eliminate those activities that took away from your event in the past.  You will know what activities those are if you think about how they made you feel and give them a rating on a scale of 1-10.  I have known of activities that were regularly included that really subtracted from the overall event but because they had been included in the past they kept being included.  Having a bit of advanced planning will allow you to eliminate them and the enjoyment of your day or time of celebrating can be significantly increased.

Since we all have special times, activities and events the more difficult part of this exercise might be in picking the time to remember and to record in your story.  You might even consider giving the story you will write to others who have celebrated the event with you in the past.  There is something very special about taking an event or a special time and sharing it with others.  Especially those who shared the event in the past or are sharing the real event with you when the time comes for the event to happen in the future.
