It is time to ring the "Liberty Bell" and celebrate the birth of our nation!
As we follow tradition and celebrate Independence Day in these great United States of America; we are reminded of our proudest secular holiday.
On July 4, 1776, the continental congress assembled in the state of Philadelphia and announced that it had adopted the Declaration of Independence from the mother country, Great Britain. Two constitutions were adopted. These adoptions guaranteed that all people were created equal.. And that the government would protect the unalienable rights. of all of its citizens.
The adoption of said documents clearly revealed that the cornerstone of our nation's freedom depended largely on a strong constitution. It is vital to the survival of all citizens that the integrity of this constitution is not compromised.
Our greatest challenge is to understand and appreciate the gravity of the sacrifices made by our founders in an effort to gain the privileges we enjoy today.
On Independence Day, we are once again reminded of the liberties we share. Our gratitude should be deepened as we remember the price others paid to help obtain and sustain our freedom. Many of our citizens who paid high prices for freedom and the cause of liberty have been forgotten.
No matter what else may be demanding our attention during this solemn holiday let us take time to remember the un-payable debt we owe forgotten warriors who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we often take for granted.
We must always remember how abundantly blessed we are as citizens of these great United States of America.
On this 4 th day of July as we celebrate our freedom americans around the globe are gathering for observances. Heartfelt greetings are being expressed. Patriotic songs ring out as bells toll.
As we observe this glorious holiday season with Red White and Blue flags soaring across our nation; Stars and Stripes validate the rights of man to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. God Bless America!
I second that emotion! We are so blessed. Sometimes we tend to forget how fortunate we really. That is why I am so grateful for holidays such as the 4th of July to refresh our memories. Thanks for reading my article.
I can sense your excitement Wes, Have a great time celebrating this 4th of July season with heartfelt gratitude for the privilege to be able to enjoy it.
You have fell into the trap of calling Britain England - remember that it was Brittan that colonised America not England. This is because of the union of crowns in 1707.
Oh, one other thing do you know how many people signed the declaration of independence?
Hi Connor, Thanks for the correction about England.
By the way, according to what I was taught by History teachers back in the day...... The Declaration of Independence was signed by a total of 56 men. Hope you had a happy 4th.
Thanks a lot for sharing added details. I am one who has an insatiable thirst for knowledge. I surround myself with hundreds of books which I realize will take a lifetime to read. I am oftentimes referred to as a bookworm because I want to learn everything there is to know about everything....... so I tend to soak up every bit of learning I can possibly attain. Have a great day.
