I bowed my knees to seek Your holy face,
You showed me love; You showed amazing grace,
I raised my hands in humble gratitude,
And praised Your name with pious attitude,
I needed You, O, God, I needed You.

What can I do, that I may earn Your love,
For all I do will always fall short of,
You said to lay my burdens at Your feet,
You took me in, although so incomplete,
I needed you, O, God, I needed you.

You gave your life, a pleasing sacrifice,
To save my soul and keep it free from strife,
And now I come to offer unto You,
My all, to do what You would have me do,
I needed You, O, God, I needed You.

And I will wait until You come again,
To take me home, eternal life to gain,
I'll walk on streets, all made of purest gold,
And live forever, never to get old,
I needed You; I give my life to You.

wow that is really beautiful it could be a hymn if set to music. You have such a poetic range it is always fun to see an email from search warp saying one of your poems are posted.

Thanks Gwendolyn, for such a wonderful comment.
You are clever to have picked up on the 'singing' style to this poem. Why? Because I had the tune of a particular secular song running through my head when I wrote this. The popular song is simply entitled, "You Needed Me." It was composed and sung by a popular Canadian singer named Anne Murray. Maybe you've heard the song.
