Exercising 6 days a week is the ideal goal for many people but often, it doesn't work out that way unless you are an athlete or dedicated fitness professional. For most of us, we are lucky to fit in a day or two of exercise in between our already busy lives. It doesn't have to be that way. You can work out more often without it becoming a hassle or feeling like a chore.
Let's take a look at some of the ways many people try to fit in exercise, yet, never manage to stick with. The most common first method is to join a gym. I think gym's are great as I have been a member of one in the past for many years. I can tell you from experience that even if you stick to going several times a week, over the years, it can become boring.
Some people barely last a year when they eventually give up and stop going. You are looking at wasted gym fees as well as the hassle of driving back and forth with little to no results to show for it.
Another common method is to work out on your own. This can happen by purchasing your own gym equipment such as treadmills, elliptical machines, or home gyms with various weights. The equipment can seem like great motivation but how often have you ended up selling a piece of gym equipment or see them offered in garage sales or for sale in classified ads?
A lot of time and effort is wasted with both of those methods mentioned. What can work is keeping things simple. Unless you plan on becoming a bodybuilder or pro athlete, chances are you won't need a ton of fancy equipment. There are plenty of in-home fitness programs that will save you time and get you into great shape.
One of the more popular home fitness programs today is P90X. This simple, yet effective fitness program requires basic equipment such as dumbbells, a yoga mat, and chin-up bar (that can fit in a doorway.) Having an in-home fitness program is like having your very own personal trainer 24 hours a day. You pop in the dvd, press play, and get your work out done when it's convenient for you.
I know because I have been using a similar program called P90 which came out before P90X. I work out 6 days a week and it doesn't even feel like I do because it's fun. Keep things simple and fun so that you can be fit without feeling like it is another job to do every day.
By the way...do you want to know more about in-home fitness programs that will add variety to your workouts and have you losing weight faster and easier?
