Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, has decided to resign from office, effective July 26, 2009.
This bit of information begs one question - does anyone outside of Alaska really care?
Since coming out of nowhere to become John McCain's pick to be the Republican Vice Presidential candidate on August 29, 2008, she was both an energizing and polarizing figure during the 2008 Presidential Campaign. It's always fun to revisit some of the events surrounding her, such as:
1)The folksy, down to earth, everyday hockey mom had $150,000 dollars spent on her campaign wardrobe by the Republican National Committee, initially denied it, then returned most of the items.
2) She could see Russia from her living room.
3) When asked by Katie Couric what newspapers she read, she responded "All of them." Huh?
4) Repeat after me - Troopergate.
Can someone please tell me what the heck Palin was talking about during the press conference announcing her resignation?
If she claims to be a great leader, why is she resigning? Palin has decided not to seek re-election,so she's leaving office two years early? The national media (or should we say media elite?) has a full court press on her? The basketball analogy of a point guard passing the ball?
I'm sorry, but that sounds somewhat delusional. Looks to me like she is jumping off of a sinking ship and forgot to get in a lifeboat. There is probably a huge negative story coming and she is getting out of the way to avoid possible impeachment. Someone correct me, but I did not see a full court press being put on by the media. I had not heard much about her since the end of the Presidential election, until now. Sarah Palin, please understand - NO ONE CARES. If you choose to resign, go right ahead. If this is what is best for Alaska, so be it. By the way, just how much notice did the media receive for this most important press conference?
Governor Palin, you must also understand, you can no longer be seriously considered as a candidate for national office again. Resigning your office gives the appearance of a person that has commitment issues. Rambling press conferences don't help you either. In conclusion, quoting General MacArthur does not set you up to become a great national leader, it only makes you look, well, somewhat loopy.
Governor Palin, good luck in your future endeavors, just stay away from microphones in public places. Please.
Until next time
