I've been on vacation for a few days now I'm a little over 1,000 miles from home.

I'm visiting family from the state of Maine I've been living in Florida for 12 years now.

It has been rainy weather since I've been here, although yesterday it was nice, mostly sunny all day. we are expecting a couple more days of rain then clearing, I hope so!

I'm writing this article from my sister's computer. I don't have much to write about at this point, just thought I'd get an article in for my columnist page. My sister has 3 dogs, a large McCaw (bird) and 2 smaller birds. So I have enough livestock here at her place to keep me company not to mention the deer that come around.

I'll probably go to the beach when the weather is permitting. The famous Old Orchard Beach Pier, where they have french fries, pizza, and anything else one craves during the summer months.

I'll be visiting old friends that I grew up with as well. The state of Maine is a must for all Americans to visit at least once in their lifetime. South Windham has one of the oldest and largest Indian burial grounds in the country and a lot of historical sights.

Portland is the largest city in the state and South Portland is also growing all the time.

Maine is also famous for its hunting and fishing in the northern part of the state around the Alagash wilderness.

Sounds like a great place to visit. Enjoy your time there. I'm not so sure I would want to see people I grew up with though. We moved back to Western NY 3 years ago after being gone since 1966. I've seen some of the people I grew up with...it's scary. :-)

I don't know if you're familiar with So. Windham Deb, but it sets in off the river rd.
