One of the costumes that rank in the top 10 Halloween Costumes is the French Maid Costume but knowing which style is right for the event you are going to can be a little tricky.

There are a plethora of French Maid costumes on the market and buying the wrong one can be nothing short of embarrassing. Many costume makers will cater for two different French Maid Costume markets, the first being the Costume Party Market or the Halloween Costume Market and the second being the Fetish Party Market or personal party market and the structure of the French Maid Costume will differ quite dramatically.

There is usually quite a difference in the style of material used in both markets for example costumes that are going to be worn in public are generally made of a PVC style fabric or lycra material. The reason for this is simply sustainability and ruggedness for the wearer. There would be nothing worse than to be in a crowded place and your costume fall apart. French Maid Costumes for the home party market or fetish party market are generally made of a stretchy mesh fabric.

Most French Maid Costumes for the personal use market will only come with a basic dress, apron and g-string where as the costumes for the party market will generally have items similar to what the French Maid had in the 1940 to 1950's.

The costumes may include items like full length gloves, a cap, stockings, collar and more however what is included does depend on the brand of the costume. You will also find that the costumes for the personal use market will come in one of two sizes and that is O/S which means one size fits most or O/S XL which means one size for plus size individuals.

Other costumes for the Halloween Party market will usually be marked as small, medium, large or extra large. If you are buying your costume online always check the lingerie size chart for that garment. Most quality online lingerie stores will have a lingerie size chart for that . Quite often we find that a medium size on the Australian lingerie size chart may be equivalent to a large size on the Asian lingerie size chart.

If you do purchase a French Maid Costume it is certainly worthwhile accessorising your costume with items such as a feather duster, costume jewellery and a cool set of high heeled shoes. These items can really increase the perceived class of your costume. Costumes are about having fun so choosing the right French Maid Costume can make a huge difference to your party.
