I am not a religious person but a faith one and yes there is a different. But it is irrelevant to this conversation. The main concern here is the belief there is something or someone bigger than me out there. A bigger picture so to speak.

There are a lot of things I don't understand in this world. A lot of people who drive me crazy and a lot of situations which are completely out of my control.

And I am discovering the best I can do a lot of the times is:

'Let go and let God'

I am not becoming a born again Christian but perhaps a born again believer. Someone out there must have my back and I have to let go and trust sometimes things are exactly as they should be. Regardless of whether I can see the bigger picture at this time or not.

So now when I become frustrated with people and things my new affirmation or mantra is "Let go and let God". Again its not about being on any religious bent but a belief someone or something out there has a plan I might not see right now. It is also the realization I don't control much except my own thoughts and actions.

When people get me angry, frustrated and life isn't going the way I want I know its time to let go and let God. After 47 years of struggling through emotions and holding onto stuff I had a Dr Phil moment where I asked myself "hows that working for ya!"

I use to carry things on in my own head when people agravated me. 48 hours later I would be still having a conversation with my ego. I would be planning exactly what I would say 4 weeks from then when I saw those people again. Basically I stepped out of the now and into my head.

Now I deal with the realities of the moment and I don't have conversations in my head with people who have long left the building. I don't imagine a plague of locusts descending upon them, I don't plan every word I will say next month at the next meeting 5 minutes after they leave. When I cannot create a shift in people and situations no matter how hard I try or what I do I know its time to let go and let God.

Its not a religious thing its a faith thing. It doesn't matter who you are everyone needs something or someone bigger than themselves to believe in. I know when my friends say here let me help its like a burden is lifted. I know when I go okay Creator I gave it my best shot now I am handing over to you a burden is also lifted.

Try it when you are angry and want to shake some sense into someone who isn't listening, take a breathe and say "I let go and let God." When a situation is making you stressed out and there seems no way out say "I let go and let God". Or Buddha or Goddess or whatever its not up to me to define what works for you or what is 'right' or 'wrong'.

When we hold on tight no one can take the load and carry it for us. We have to let go for this to happen. We have to trust, we have to have faith and not only in 'something or one' but also in ourselves.

When the high healed 20 year old cuts in front of you at the supermarket checkout. Let go and let God.

When the impatient driver toots his horn 20 times behind you. Let go and let God.

When your partner disagrees with everything you say no matter how you word it. Let go and let God.

When nothing you do and say changes people, situations and things "let go and let God." Don't hang on let go its the only way a shift can occur. Ever tried to get a broken toy off a child who is determined right or wrong not to let go? That's exactly what we do every day when we refuse to let things go. So the next time you feel the blood pressure rising, the emotions starting to flood your body trust have faith and above all

Let go and let God

Robin, this is an encouraging and inspirational message. It's one that believers should take to heart. I shared those same words to a friend/Warpie a couple of days ago in a comment. A gospel recording artist in the states even made it a popular song. Thank you for the beauty of your divinely inspired words.

I like the born again believer vs Christian and not being religious but a person of faith. Both of those differences help us to let go and let God much easier. We know He can be trusted.

I wrote this a long time ago about letting go and letting God

The hand of Creator will not pull you nor push you nor will it create for you. Like a hand of a loving parent it will be there to lift you when you fall, to comfort you when you hurt or to hold you while you catch your breathe. Creator has no secrets does not claim to be the way or have the key. Creator a loving parent gave you the tools to find your own way, you do not need a key for the door to his/her kingdom/universe is never locked and there is not secrets you were born with everything you need to know within.

"Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 14:5-6 KJV is the belief I share as a follower of Jesus Christ, my Creator.

thank you for sharing I believe if thats your path and the bible works for you and takes you through life with hope peace and joy in your heart just as the Buddha does for Buddists and the Goddess does for others then it thats all which matters. I dont believe in ultimate truths religious or spiritual or universal but thats just what works for me. My truths come from within me I believe the bible to be a man made interpretation of a spiritual event and as with any book is the perception of the person who wrote it. I prefer to have my own communication with God that way I get it as they say "straight from the horses mouth". But again if the bible and words in it bring you peace and help you find your way then more power to you I am married to someone who taught sunday school and the bible for 30 years so I know first hand what solice can be found in the words of the bible. I disagree with her too but that doesnt mean I do not  respect her faith and how she finds peace in this world or think she is anything less than a divine creation a walking ,miracle as we all are.

Thank you, Robin for respecting my beliefs as I do yours. I feel we both agree it's a personal journey and relationship although the paths are different. I also sense you are like me in that you do not argue your beliefs to defend them. I've learned every battle in my life belongs to God which is the ultimate exercise in letting go and letting God. Take special care and may you experience peace, love and joy.

I wish you every happiness and joy in your life  I admire anyone who speaks their truth quietly and openly while respecting the right of others to do the same.

hi robin,

i attended twelve step meetings 15 years ago, and this was a big part of the therapy they were trying to supply "Let go, and let God."

it slips my mind at first, but the harder the situation, the more i am able to remember what to do and gravitate to letting God do His magic, and for me to stay out of His way.

i tend to sabotage, He tends to fix.

thanks for sharing this article.

my best regards,

sue

I am familiar with 12 step programs as well. It amazes me that with all the new age spiritualism (which I admit I am a part of) that is so over intellectualized it is the simple words and concepts like let go and let God which can make all the difference.

I am impressed at the profound and relevant message in this piece. It is easy to see that you believe what you speak.

Great job.

Thank you and I do believe what I speak and I try to walk my talk rather than just let it become words in the wind. I try to walk with an open mind and an open heart to all perspectives and beliefs try being the key word Iol
