I first met Deborah Hall Branch, the author of Through the Eyes of Abuse, two years ago when I happened across an article she wrote about the power of the Holy Spirit.
Since then we have become friends and prayer partners and she has joined a wonderful community of writers on SearchWarp.com. Many of us have enjoyed the opportunity to read her encouraging and sometimes challenging articles on faith, hope, and love.
I have been waiting for the arrival of her first book to hit the press and line the shelves for purchase and as soon as I was able, I ordered a copy. As expected, I was not disappointed.
Deborah takes the reader on a journey through her childhood with such ease that it invites you into her world, as if you were right there experiencing every laugh and every tear.
She candidly explains the physical betrayal of ones own body while being sexually abused - an aspect of abuse I had never considered before. In doing this, she gives a depth of understanding as to why children and teens feel dirty and guilty which adds to the reasons they keep their secret.
The beauty of this book is that each chapter stands on it's own, giving antidotes to specific areas of despair that always points to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, while at the same time, builds and weaves her entire story together, which leaves you with wisdom, understanding, and hope for victory in your own life.
I recommend this book to everyone; whether a person of faith or not, abuse or not, it gives great insight to the world of abuse and the journey to a healthy and prosperous life.
A big thanks to Deborah for sharing her world so that others may be encouraged.
