The Advantages of Mobile & Small Chicken Coops

These days, a growing number of individuals are choosing to own mobile and small chicken coops over constructing large ones that cannot be moved. This is because the advantages of portable coops are far more than those of immobile ones. However, the choice, at the end of the day, is yours only, as you know your needs best. There are a few things you should know about portable coops so that you are able to choose whether they are suitable for you. Discussed here are a few pros and cons of mobile chicken coops.

Cleaning is easier

This is one of the greatest benefits of portable coops. They are smaller and hence cleaning is a much easier task. Moreover, you can just place the coop close to your house and make cleaning less of a chore. Another plus is that you can just take the coop to a cement garage and hose it down to wash it.

Construction cost it less

This is also a big benefit of mobile and small chicken coops. As compared to large coops, they need less material, time and effort, and are hence a better option. Often, you can use material that you already have lying around your house. If this is not the case then a neighbor may have a few of the things you need. This isn't a problem because, since the coop is small, you need lesser material, thus making mobile coops a cheaper option.

Decreased feeding time

Another advantage of portable chicken coops is that it takes much less time to feed the chickens as it would for a large coop. again, you can just keep the coop near to your house and you won't have to walk a lot to feed the chickens. Many people appreciate this benefit of mobile coops, so it is certainly something you should take into consideration.

Limited Coop Size

This is a drawback of portable chicken coops, as the number of chickens you can keep is quite limited. If you want to keep more than six chickens, then mobile coops are not a suitable option for you. Portable coops are usually a better option for those who want to keep chickens as a side activity, rather than a main one.

Durability

Portable chicken coops must be well constructed if you want them to survive the wear and tear of constant movement. If this is not taken care of then it is very likely that you will face problems, and repairs will be needed more often than normal.
