"Huh? I turned the question back on to him." Do you have a woman?

"Actually, I don't, "But I did ask you first.

Well, actually, yes, kind of.

"You kind of ?

"Have a man, I finished his sentence and my own.

"Well what's this kind of thing all about? Andre asked suspiciously.

He continued" I don't know about all this kind of stuff.

"Well, I don't know how I feel about him-we go out sometime. But we never

I paused in mid sentence, not wanting to divulge too much information, but at the same time wanting to express my feelings.

"Never what? Andre pressed.

"You know. We never had sex or anything..

"So since you never had sex with him, then that makes him your kind of man..

"No!

I didn't really appreciate his putting me on the spot, And wondered if he was purposely doing it.

"I'm just trying to understand you Mina..

"Well I say kind of because I don't really know where I stand with him and where he stands with me.

"I've been with him for 2 months now, and I have never been to his place. He's been to mine but I never his. And well it makes me wonder if he's hiding something. "But we just kind of have more of a friendly kind of relationship then an intimate one..

"Do you want an intimate one? Andre asked with intense interest.

"What do you mean..?

"Well, what did you mean when you said intimate?

"Well, I just meant a close relationship. Closer then he's willing to give me. I don't know maybe he just needs time.

"Time? Andre asked surprised"Dude sounds a little sweet or something." I mean he should be giving you all the intimacy you need. You shouldn't have to want for that.

"Well, any way, how are things going with you? What have you been up to? I was quick to change the subject.

I really didn't feel like talking about Trevor. The guy I met on a rainy day when I had nothing of my own to shield me from it,.

He came from behind me and I looked up to find shade and shelter from the down pour..

"Don't want you to catch a cold, its pneumonia weather out here.

My first instinct was to move away from him, to get out from under his umbrella, he was too close and I didn't know him from Adam. But his voice was so gentle and when I looked upon his face I seen the same. His eyes caught mine, dark brown, sparkling almost marble like, chinky and wide, lined with long lashes-Just pretty. Above them thick dark brows, I didn't mean to, but my eyes dropped to his lips, plump, shapely, plain kissable. It seemed as if I was stuck in the moment, entranced pulled in by his essence. I swallowed my eyes softened, blinked, and quickly looked away toward the street rain beating the concrete.

My car wasn't far away, it was parked on the curb just outside of my school building."

"Thank you, I said.

"You're very welcome.

He walked me to my car. I opened the door and got in leaving it half way open.

"By the way my name is Trevor

"Nice meeting you Trevor. My name is Amina and thank you again.

"Any time. he said.

I shut the door started the car and drove off with a smile. Unh,Unh,UnH,damn he's fine.

I looked in the rear view mirror and seen him standing there in the rain watching me drive off.

I didn't know if I would ever see him again. But for some reason that day and the following days he'd stay on my mind. I don't know what it was. But there was something intriguing about him.

And I wanted to know what that something was..

It wasn't until 2 weeks later that I'd see him again. I was coming down stairs from a class and unto the main floor. On my way out I saw him standing outside of a classroom speaking to a teacher.

I walked pass him to see if he would say anything to me, to see if he would even look my way. And when he did I spoke.

"Hello Trevor, I didn't want him to think I was interested so I kept my pace and walked quickly toward the door.

He hurried to end his conversation; it seemed as if he almost tripped trying to get me to stop, as he advanced in my direction.

"Hey Ms. Amina..

I was glad he called my name, but I didn't stop, I tossed my hair back and glanced over my shoulder to look in his direction, slowed my pace so he could catch up. He started to walk close beside me and just as we got to the door he opened it.

"Thank you.

"You're very welcome. It's nice seeing you again.

I smiled. "So you attend this school as well?

"Actually, I'm a teacher, Mathematics.

"Oh, okay..

I didn't want to show my excitement, I'm a student he's a teacher. There was something strangely erotic about that.

"I never seen you before..

"Yea? Well, this is a big building. "Before that day in the rain, I had never seen you before either. He chuckled that "But I've been teaching here for a year already.

"Oh okay..

"Yeah .So, um would it be unprofessional to ask for your number; to call you sometime?

"You know after school grading papers-- I really don't have any one to hang out with- anyone to talk to.

I smiled, there was something very sweet and innocent about this grown man, his eyes were so warm and comforting.

"No, I guess it wouldn't be unprofessional since" It's not like I'm your student.

He chuckled. "Yes your right, very true..

He stood there with hands in his pocket like a nervous teenager, as he waited for my answer.

"Yes, you can have my number.

He smiled and quickly took out a pen and a pad from the pocket he had his hand in. and put pen to paper.

I gave him my number, he smiled graciously and nodded his head thank you. He then told me he would be calling.

And turned to go back inside the building but then stopped, as if he had forgotten something, he walked back toward me.

"I forgot my manners, Let me walk you to your car..

I allowed him. That same night he called, and we talked for hours.

During our conversation we touched on many topics. I had asked where he was originally from to find that he was from New York like me, asked if he had any kids and found yes two: a boy and a girl. I found that he liked going to theaters, enjoyed the fine arts, actually was very ethnic and liked to partake in every thing that was.

He enjoyed painting and that's what he did in his past time, painting abstracts and nature.

I relished in his words felt as if I was sitting right there on his couch looking into his eyes as he intensely spoke of his passions. I could hear it in his voice the way he spoke, this was a man that I could definitely enjoy getting to know, as I was already. We were intellectually compatible. It seemed as if he was into every thing I was into. No, I wasn't a painter but an avid collector of it. There was something about looking not just at but into a painting, if the artist was really good, the painting will pull you in take you there. Make you imagine dwelling in those rough and soft edges that came together and made that town, that forest that sea. Made you wonder about that face, that imaginary person or that very real persons' life.

The paintings in my home gave me a sort of peace when I gazed at them.

I told him of the paintings I owned, and playfully stated:

"Maybe one day you could paint me.

I could hear the smile in his voice as he said,"Yeah maybe one day I will.

Before we ended our conversation, He asked me out, and I accepted the invitation.

Andre was still talking to me about what was going on with him. I caught the majority of what he was saying, while I day dreamed about Trevor.

"Ay Mina, you listening to me?
