What can I do to make my vagina smell better? Better than what? Each woman's vagina has its own unique smell and this sometimes gives cause for much confusion. Some women if their vaginal odor doesn't smell like the next woman's they panic and think their abnormal. I cannot emphasize at this point how important it is not to go down the road called comparison. Comparing any health concerns up against another person's can lead to serious problems for you, both mentally and physically.
There's no need to fancy up the vagina with different products as this takes away its true identity and natural smell. If what you smell is "not" unpleasant then leave it be because this could be the vagina's "natural" scent you want to better improve. There are many beauty products on the market in high demand to treat and better improve the skin and better improve the condition of hair that women believe necessary to have and rightly so, but, the vagina's demands is not the same unless diseased. To better improve vaginal health needs nothing more than having a clean vagina bathed in soap and water. Expensive feminine products are not a necessity.
Aside from soap and water and eating good foods for the upkeep of vaginal health there are things you can do to freshen the genitals "safely." To better improve odor we have the good and bad things to be wary about.
Let's look at the common reasons why bad vaginal odors happen
- Poor Hygiene
- Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) a bacterial infection known for its distinct "fishy" smell
- Yeast Infections may or may not cause odor
- Some sexually transmitted diseases can cause smell but because some STD symptoms in women don't show, odor may not occur, still, if you've been exposed get tested.
Sweat: If sweat smothers the genitals it leaves that greasy slithery feeling around the vagina and anus. This is most unhealthy. The gooey matter should be removed as soon as possible. Carry non-scented baby wipes to remove sweaty slime from the genitals. In the hot months consider shaving pubic hair off to combat the pee and sweat problem. If you decide to remove pubic hair it doesn't mean you get out of washing the vagina as much, it simply means less to wash.
Urine and sweat are common causes of a smelly vagina. The vagina is a self cleaning and odorless organ which don't need douching because it's constantly flushing itself out all the time. Nonetheless odor-producing bacteria can increase on the vulva and need to be cleaned off frequently to prevent vaginal inflection and smell.
If the vaginal odor you're trying to rid isn't budging even after trying every solution then we could be looking at infection as the problem. If it's a fishy smelling odor then it's likely its bacterial vaginosis - a condition caused by an overgrowth of various bacteria. Depending on severity trying to better improve the smell of the vagina could prove to be difficult if affected by this condition without medical attention. A regular symptom of BV is discharge which normally appears white-grey color and brings the fishy odor. BV discharge tends to be heaviest after a period and sex. It's not known for itch or soreness around the vagina/vulva like some other vaginal infections.
Health of the vagina and smell are influenced by overall lifestyle, diet and weight.
- Eat a healthy well balanced diet.
- Stop smoking and drinking alcohol and using drugs
- Avoid spicy foods if possible
- Eat natural products and drink plenty of water
- Because infections such as yeasts are found in the intestine, it is vital after using the loo to wipe the vagina heading backwards to the anus.
- Avoid tight garments and specific fabrics which contain a high percentage of synthetic fibers, namely nylon.
- Unchanged sanitary pads and tampons can create a nasty smell
- Use a condom and a spermicidal to lessen the odds in catching an infection/disease.
Itchy vulva combined with irritation and redness around the vagina. Depending how severe the yeast infection is the vulva can swell and see fissures which causes discharge to turn white and thicken.
Women usually want to better improve the smell of their vagina because they're paranoid over other people noticing they smell. You can make yourself sick with worry if you keep on thinking you smell "down there. Under normal circumstances no one, no matter how close cannot smell your vagina. Puberty comes with all sorts of changes - including body shape and the way you smell. These changes are natural and a normal part of becoming a woman and nothing to worry about or be ashamed of.
As long as the genital area is kept clean it will stay fresh. Wash the vagina every morning and freshen up throughout the day when necessary. If you shower daily then substitute for a long soak in the bath during your periods, it will help soothe menstrual cramps. You can like other women cure your own vaginal yeast infection naturally without having to see a doctor, but still under medic supervision. If embarrassment prevents you from visiting your GP then below is the ideal solution for you.
Did you know when you treat your own vaginal infection you rid vaginal odour at the same time.

ive read on here many times that shaving your pubic hair causes bv and or yeast infections. because the hair keeps the bacteria out and also soaks up the sweat.
