Does rheumatoid arthritis affect young people, and what is it about the disease that should be feared if struck down with it. Depending how severe a person's joints are affected, it can be a very painful condition indeed and I speak through personal experience on this.

Arthritis comes on the same par as cancer and heart disease in putting the fear of god in anyone if it's diagnosed in them. Rheumatoid arthritis causes inflammation, pain, and swelling of joints. Continual inflammation over time can damage affected joints.

In answer to the question above "anyone" can suffer from the disease as there is no designated age; however it's not as common in youngsters as it is in middle aged people...man and woman. The disease affects females more so than males. Most people diagnosed are aged between the common ages of 40 to 60. There is much confusion over the condition being hereditary giving rise for people to panic. If these same people suspect that a past or present member of their family, either suffered from the disease, or developing the symptoms they work themselves into such a state that they need to see a doctor. Stop worrying; it is not a genetic problem. If you experience pain and stiffness of the joints, and especially if the stiffness is at its worst first thing in the morning then you could be suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. You need to see your GP to have this determined

Having a better understanding of the disease will prove to be most beneficial for you in many ways.

A joint is where two bones join up. Joints allow movement and suppleness of several parts of the body. Movement is reasoned by muscles which pull on tendons attached to the bone. Cartilage covers the end of bones. Amid the cartilage of two bones that form a joint a tiny quantity of thick liquid called synovial fluid is found. This is essential because it's a vital source of lubrication the joints need to allow for smooth movement between the bones. The synovial fluid is prepared by the synovium which is surrounding tissue of the joint. The exterior of the synovium is known as the capsule. It's strong, gives the joint steadiness, and prevents the bones from moving out of place. It is supposedly an autoimmune disease. The body's immune system usually creates antibodies (tiny proteins) that destroy harmful bacteria, viruses, and other germs. Each individual differs and in some people with autoimmune diseases, the immune system creates antibodies against tissues of the body.

Joints, namely the fingers, thumbs, wrists, feet, and ankles are the most likely joints to become diseased. The knees too, but less likely are the hips, shoulders, elbows, and neck.

Modern treatments for rheumatoid arthritis can often curb progression and joint damage; however people are looking more to ways of controlling pain naturally without drugs because of possible side effects from particular medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs which are widely used anti-inflammatory treatments of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Prescription analgesics are just another kind of medication given to people to treat arthritis pain. Unfortunately they have no affect on inflammation, or the underlying disease condition.

Can you rid the pain of rheumatoid arthritis with home remedies? Some people seem to think so, and if they work for them then there shouldn't be any reason why they won't work for you. Before practicing with new medicines or other - ask your GP is it safe to do so. Why not ask your doctor if there is a designed exercise program you can follow to help with pain and stiffness of the joints. He/she will know of the best exercise ideally suited to your particular needs. While much exertion can augment joint pain, light exercise may help reduce it. The cartilage benefits greatly from activity because it helps increase blood flow, which then brings nutrients to the joint and removes waste products.

Overweight people tend to suffer more pain due to heaviness. Less stress on your joints will decrease some of those agonizing moments. By controlling your weight it helps prevent osteoarthritis of the knees and other weight-bearing joints. If you are thinking of losing weight then take it slowlook towards losing between two to five pounds every 4 weeks.

Some people, although only a temporary fix, relieve their pain using the hot and cold method. They warm their sore joints, or use cold to numb the painful area. Cold compresses reduce joint swelling and inflammation but not to be used longer than 15 minutes at a time - with at least half an hour break in between each application. Heat compresses relax muscles and stimulate blood flow. There are several ways to endorse the heat treatment, and one is to use a moist heating pad or a warm damp flannel. Some folk use the microwavable hot packs, remember to follow instructions accordingly

Have a long soak in a hot bath to relax stiff muscles. If you suffer from high blood pressure, are pregnant, or been diagnosed with a heart disorder have your GP okay this.

Some people swear by the copper wrist band to help relieve the pain of rheumatoid arthritis. Magnets such as bracelets, necklaces, inserts, pads, or disks are used as an alternative therapy for pain control.

In osteoarthritis patients, some preliminary research showed magnets improved joint pain better than a placebo in folks with knee or hip arthritis. Medics don't fully comprehend exactly how magnets might relieve pain. It's not evident that magnets help rheumatoid arthritis sufferers. I tried this form of treatment for myself but the pain in my aching bones and joints still persisted, and still to this day, still do, even with a regular daily dose of anti inflammatory tablets. Nevertheless as stated earlier people differ, so although not a solution for mebut maybe for you.

Help ease pain, and soothe any discomfort derived from swelling and inflammation.

Eating cayenne pepper can bring relief.

A daily glass of fresh pineapple will help reduce swelling of the joints.

Massaging the joints with warm coconut oil mixed with a few pieces of camphor for stiffness and pain.

Garlic is an anti oxidant and helps in reducing the inflammation.

Warm olive oil massaged over the aching joints helps to lessen arthritis pain.

Soak a teaspoon of black sesame seeds in water overnight. Drink the water the next morning and eat the seeds.

Two teaspoons of lemon juice added to one teaspoon of honey in a cup of warm water is good.

Eat a healthy well balanced diet to help strengthen bones. Be good to your joints and they will be good to you then you won't have reason to pick a bone with them.

Don't let Osteoarthritis cripple you any longer with pain take away the pain today
