On the campaign trail in 2008, Barack Obama promised gun owners that, if elected President, he would not try to take away their firearms but he never said he wouldn't let someone else do it.
Now that Obama has been elected, and the liberal Democrat-majority Congress is licking its legislative chops, Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has the 2nd Amendment in his crosshairs.
His latest idea is to grant un-Constitutional powers to Attorney General Eric Holder, giving Holder the authority to ban gun sales to one million citizens of the U.S., on a dubious FBI terrorist "watch list." This list could also the perceived as the enemies of the left.
Obama and the White House are looking the other way as Lautenberg seeks to ban guns from one million US citizens on this secret FBI terrorist watch list.
The record is clear; Obama has deliberately and repeatedly lied to America's 90 million gun owners across the country when he insisted that he would not try to take away anyone's firearms. Now Obama's silence endorses Lautenberg's latest attempt at banning guns.
Lautenberg has unveiled his devious unconstitutional plot by introducing bill S. 1317 that would give the attorney general the discretion to block gun sales to people on terror watch lists. Citizens should be shocked and appalled and should demand the defeat of this bill, giving extraordinary powers to limit gun sales to the Attorney General.
The names of the people on the watch list are secret, and Lautenberg said he was frustrated by the FBI's refusal to disclose to investigators details and specific cases of gun purchases beyond the aggregate data.
Gun hater Lautenberg requested the gun grab study from the Government Accountability Office. He is using statistics, compiled in the report that was released this week to invade US citizen's privacy and put more restrictions on the Second Amendment.
Lautenberg said he wanted a better understanding of who is being allowed to buy guns.
How you ask?
Trial by innuendo and misinformation that has put 1,000,000 Americans and maybe even you on a terrorist watch list without your knowledge by saying: people placed on this government's terrorist watch list can be stopped from getting on a plane or getting a visa, and will also be stopped from buying a gun.
Lautenberg wants gun purchases stopped for just being on the list. Current law states federal officials must find some other disqualification of a would-be gun buyer, like being a felon, an illegal alien or a drug addict.
Is your name on the list and can you get it removed?
The government's consolidated watch list, used to identify people suspected of links to terrorists, has grown to more than one million names since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It also has drawn widespread criticism over the prevalence of mistaken identities and unclear links to terrorism.
Recently Sens. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ), Jack Reed (D-RI) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) have joined Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and victims and family members of the Virginia Tech tragedy, to introduce legislation to eliminate the private transfers of firearms and close the nation's "gun show loophole."
This Senate bill is in the Judiciary Committee, chaired by anti-gun liberal Democrat Leahy. Lautenberg's gun hate is well documented and he says you are irrational if you support private gun sales.
"There is no rational reason to oppose closing the loophole. The reason it's still not closed is simple: the continuing power of the special interest gun lobby in Washington" Sen. Lautenberg said ignoring the Constitution.
Motives for his latest gun ban to are twofold: First, he is taking small steps to enact gun control legislation. Second, eradicate the gun culture altogether.
All that seems to be on the minds of the Anti-Gun Senators and at the offices of gun control extremists is figuring out how to invade your privacy to erode and eventually destroy the right, and the means, of self-defense.
Now the Anti-Gun Coalitions are trying to use a self supporting GAO study to destroy the right of all Americans to keep and bear arms to protect themselves under the law. They are attacking and hiding behind an Anti-Terrorist Agenda while getting political and financial support from: George Soros, a Hungarian-born billionaire, bank rolling efforts with his check book and spending more that $100 million to destroy the Constitution; Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D.CA) admitted that "guns would be banned and confiscated," if she could have her way. The United Nations actively pushes globalism, seeking to disarm all Americans.
How can such a constitution-usurping gun grab happen in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave? And what just exactly is this so-called watch list?
Alan Gottlieb, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, is openly speaking out to address this startling gun-grab scenario with all of its outrageous details.
Gottlieb asks: Is History Repeating Itself? He cites the 1938 German Weapons Act, the precursor of the current weapons law, superseded the 1928 law. As under the 1928 law, citizens were required to have a permit to carry a firearm and a separate permit to acquire a firearm.
Furthermore, the law restricted ownership of firearms to "...persons whose trustworthiness is not in question and who can show a need for a (gun) permit." Sound familiar?
According to Gottlieb, not only does the thought of Holder exercising this power stand as a serious breach of the law, but the "watch list," if used this way, sets a dangerous precedent that is an even greater threat to the 90 million other gun owners, and the rest of America.
Meet James Robinson
A CNN story raises questions about mistaken identities on the list such as James Robinson, who is a retired Air National Guard brigadier general and a commercial pilot for a major airline who flies passenger planes around the country and is a licensed gun owner. As a matter of fact, he's certified by the Transportation Security Administration to carry a weapon into the cockpit of his own plane.
Problem is, because of the watch list that includes a "James Robinson," he often can't even board his own plane. How about political enemies' of the current administration - what might stop any of them from accidentally' appearing on the list?
But there's one problem: James Robinson, the pilot, has difficulty even getting to his plane because his name is on the government's terrorist "watch list."
That means he can't use an airport kiosk to check in; he can't do it online; he can't do it curbside. Instead, like thousands of Americans whose names match a name or alias used by a suspected terrorist on the list, he must go to the ticket counter and have an agent verify that he is James Robinson, the pilot, and not James Robinson, the terrorist.
"Shocking is a good word; frustrating," Robinson, the pilot said. "I'm carrying a weapon, flying a multimillion-dollar jet with passengers, but I'm still screened as, you know, on the terrorist watch list."
This is a troubling situation; because the real motives of liberals like Lautenberg, and the forces outside of Congress have everything to do with a gun grab.
Dynamic and articulate are two accurate descriptions of Alan Gottlieb, who has vowed to lead the opposition to stop the Lautenberg legislation to deny ownership of guns. We will be hearing more about this person in the coming months. He is a Nuclear Engineering graduate of the University of Tennessee and has attended the Institute on Comparative Political & Economic Systems at Georgetown University.
Gottlieb is recognized as a member of the working press, maintaining active membership in the Outdoor Writers Association of America. His articles have appeared in periodicals including USA Today, Seattle Times, Washington Post, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, San Francisco Examiner, Cincinnati Inquirer, Orlando Sentinel, and the Chicago Tribune.
Gottlieb has also received the prestigious Golden Eagle Award from the American Federation of Police, and was commended by the Kentucky House of Representatives for his "outstanding leadership in preserving our American heritage of freedom." He is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in American Politics.
Gottlieb is also President of radio stations KBNP in Portland, Oregon, KITZ in Seattle, Washington, KGTK in Olympia, Washington, and KSBN in Spokane, Washington and former Chairman of the Talk America Radio Network and former President of the Universal Talk Network.
This should be an interesting battle.

JP-Very controversial! I am not sure how I would know what was going on in the world of politics without you keeping me informed! :) thanks for sharing!
Excellently written. Very scary. Look at the crime stats in DC when local, law abiding citizens can't have guns - who does? The criminals - they could care less about a law that has been passed, right? Marijo
Thanks Marijo - I worked in DC for a couple of years in my youth. Went out at night, walking all over the place. I wouldn't do that today with armed body guards. Thanks for the feedback. JP
We as voters need to return to the constitution our great nation was built upon. Thank you for pointing out what is really going on in politics today. You and Beck have become my new favs. Your opening paragraphy was very funny and cleverly put.
This is amazing and scary information, JP. I have heard stories about this list. According to one document because I am caucasian and pro-life, I could show up on the list. I know some who are more moderate, even liberal in many of their beliefs who would fit this description. Some say it is scare tactics, but it is hard to ignore when the documents are official and people are encouraged to forward emails from those opposing the current healthcare plan to the white house website so they can calm our fears.
Thanks Lorrie for your feedback. I fly a lot and have a friend who got on the watch list. He has flown on three flights with me and he never fails to get pulled out of line to be questioed.. While he never has been demied from flying, the matter that he is on sombody's list is a real pain. We asked a member of Congress to look into it but he couldn't. It would seem that he too is on that list. And can't get off. JP
This really is scary stuff. And it's the precedent that it would set that worries me more than anything. And the thought that I might just be on that list, can't find out if I am, and probably couldn't get off of it if I were makes me just plain angry.
Dianne, Thanks for taking the time to read the article and commenting on it. I agree this is scary and yet there is almost nothing that the average person can do. We need to be vigilant and always remember that the government works for us, not the other way around. JP
