Christmas holidays are fast-approaching, and we all know what that means, right? It's time to start doing some Christmas party planning! While planning a Christmas party-whether it's for your office, family, or your friends-may seem pretty stressful, especially if you don't know what type of party to throw, the good news is that the Internet is teeming with ideas on how you can throw a memorable party that all your guests will enjoy.
We have some tips and suggestions that you can use to spice up your holiday celebrations. So if you want to throw a Christmas party that's unlike any other, then we suggest you read on and learn some from our list of Christmas party planning ideas.
Tip #1: Find an Appropriate Christmas Party Theme
Note the word "appropriate"? It's there for a reason. In the same way you wouldn't want your kids to be in a party filled with drunk adults dressed up as priests and prostitutes, you certainly wouldn't want to throw a Christmas party that's going to alienate or offend any of your guests.
That's why when picking your Christmas party theme, make sure you pick one that's not going to be offensive or inappropriate for any of your guests.
Tip #2: Pick a Fun Theme.
Yes. Fun is a subjective word. What's "fun" for one person can be boring for another. The challenge here is to pick a Christmas party theme that's going to appeal to most of your guests.
Aside from classic Christmas party themes like: White Christmas, Blue Christmas, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa-other fun themes you can explore include those that require your guests to dress up like their favorite superheroes, Hollywood stars, or whatnot. Your Christmas party theme can even be almost completely unrelated to Christmas. We say almost, because you shouldn't forget the most important part of your party-the gift-giving session!
If you're throwing a kids' Christmas party, then the good news is that kids tend to love any type of party that has a lot of sweets and a lot of gifts. Since kids usually don't have much qualms when it comes to dressing up, you can throw an Elf-themed Christmas party where all the children show up dressed like Santa's Little Helpers. Now, can you imagine how cute that would look in pictures?
And if your guests are all adults, then you can opt for naughtier themes like Saints and Sinners. If most of your guests are males who love sports, then ask them to dress up in their favorite team colors. The options are limitless!
Just remember that the important thing is to pick a theme that most, if not all, of your guests will love.
Tip #3: Cut Back on the Booze or BYOD!
Wintertime driving is more hazardous than driving during summer. That's because during winter, roads tend to become slippery from precipitation and moisture that has turned into ice. And because the streets are icy, drivers are simply more prone to getting into accidents. Now, imagine if the driver were drunk. Wouldn't that quadruple a person's chances of crashing into an inanimate object or into a hapless law-abiding driver?
That's the reasoning behind the slogan: "Don't drink and drive." Yet, while we all know that slogan only too well, it seems like some of us still drive while under the influence, especially after late-night parties.
Your goal now is to prevent this from happening by either cutting your supply of alcoholic beverages down, or by having designated drivers in your party. Instead of serving "unlimited beers" to your best buds, why not serve a little wine and a lot of juices and carbonated drinks instead? Or if you think that an alcohol-free party is not a real party, then why not ask your guests to BYOD?
No. Not "Bring Your Own Date" and certainly not "Bring Your Own Drink". But "Bring Your Own Designated Driver". That way, people who want to drink can get wasted, and those that don't want to indulge in alcoholic treats can drive after the party.
