The performance envelope for an LCD is pushed by the Sony Bravia KDL52V5500 with amazing detail, inky blacks, motion processing, picture clarity and detail. This set just like the others in the Sony range exploits the full capabilities of LCD screen technology setting a new bench mark in performance.

The Sony Bravia KDL-52V5500 shines on HD material like Blu-ray. The best Blu-ray experience can be seen on a Sony TV, and this Bravia LCD is no exception. The created picture on this TV possesses amazingly clear detail and brilliant colours. Blu-ray film motion is very high-quality, although not up to the standards of the costlier W5500s which have Sony's Motion flow 100 hertz motion processing. The only weakness of the TV is the bleeding through of the backlight at the corners when the scene in a film is dark messes up what is an almost faultless picture.

It is quite unfortunate that the Sony Bravia KDL-52V5500 has uneven screen illumination in view of its ability to produce such an excellent audio visual experience on standard definition and Blu ray disc. Occasionally on a number of images, there is a little bit of edge shimmering however this is barely perceptible unless you are trying to find it.

This Bravia television's audio quality is staggeringly first-rate with deep bass and crystal clear sound not typically seen on an LCD costing so little.

All in all, the Sony KDL52V55000 possesses a dazzling mixture of intense whites and pitch-black blacks with amazing detail in particular on HD material. This TV has smooth flowing on screen motion and natural colours. Even though the backlighting is less than desirable, the positives outweigh the negative, and you should definitely consider a purchase.

And there is more.
