After pulling out of the Q&A competition it was only right to come back and let you know what life's like since moving on. It's been two days now and life's crap, and still not moved on, in fact I can't stop thinking about the fun I had, and what I learned from the experience. In a short space of time in comparison to the 4 years I've been involved with Searchwarp my once "fellow authors" are now my new found "fellow friends."
My advice to other authors, who for whatever reason by passed the opportunity of getting involved with the Q&A game, is to check it out.
They say a picture paints a thousand words, and they do, however not always the right ones. When you look at someone's profile picture on the Searchwarp site... it's only natural to make judgement about a person based on their looks, this is not good practce for you, or for them. Doing this is like finding someone guilty before hearing their side of the story.
Who'd of thought looking at the mug shot of Drunken Mystic that he shouldn't be taken any other way than serious (don't be fooled,) or JP Bender being the clown that he is. And what of clever boy Ben Moorish with that angelic face you would like to punch in. (Sorry Ben couldn't resist) Then what about the misconstrued photo of the notorious Sandra E Graham which implies butter wouldn't melt, "beware." I would like to thank Dianne and Connor with his true "MUGSHOT," oh and of course the main man Stroud himself, along with Steven who all showed their true colours (bright and colourful like a rainbow.) I haven't forgotten Hilda, Kathi and Teresa, and if you don't see your name it could be because I can't spell it. I urge people reading this not to take people at face value but to get know them before making judgement. If you're looking for a laugh and knowledge then these are the people to be around. Interaction is a powerful tool to get what you want or to give.
My reason for dropping out of the race so as to speak was purely due to circumstance...but like Arnold said "I'LL BE BACK" because I hear Bruce has some other ideas in the pipeline for those who love the Q&A game. See my message from Bruce and what he has in mind below.
‘Kacy, I'm sorry to see you're dropping out. It's been a lot of fun to see your questions and answers and get to know you in many new ways.
Fact is that if I ended the competition tonight it already would be much more successful than I ever imagined. It blows me away how you and the others have jumped into this. I know it's been fun for me to participate the little bit that I could. I wish other SW members would be able to participate so they could get to know the other members better.
Here's my question that I'll leave for anyone who has bothered to read to this point in the responses: Are you really doing it for the money? Jeff said it earlier; it's a lot of work for just having the hope of possibly winning $100. If you were paid a small monthly fee to keep the Q&A section going, would you do it? Anyone?
There is a potential to make some money with the Q&A section if done right, though this was never our intent. Now we're wondering if maybe we should go for it and use the revenue generated to pay a few people to keep it going. Just wondering.'
Getting paid for doing something you enjoy sounds good to me, and it sure beats holding down a dead end job paying pennies. Why not contact Bruce who is always "right" to let him know if his decision to do this is "wrong." Could this be the true reason why I am out of the race to prepare for the next that I believe will be bigger and better the second time round. How can I possibly know this you ask, could it be because I believe in Bruce? If anyone can make this happen it's Bruce, and with the help of them who in the past he has helped things happen for them, it will be as every bit as successful as the first.
