Cold Reading is the most common tactic used by supposed psychics, and it can be very convincing. Some also use other methods to get information, like hiring PIs or using researchers.

There are a total of zero scientifically proven psychics in the world (James Randi will give $1million for the first person to prove they genuinely have psychic abilities).

While there is an argument that these "psychics" may provide a useful service - they may help credulous people get a sense of closure and enable them to move on for example - there's also an argument that they are simply exploiting people's credulity and emotions.

Why do people go to psychics? I don't get it. Are they real? Has anyone ever really checked them out to see if they are the real thing?

Some are real. Most are not. You need to make sure you see a reputable psychic. Ask around. Search the web. There are some directories and some listings that allow people to comment on their readings.

Sylvia did nothing for me. Jonathan did nothing for me. George Andersen is OK, but not the type of psychic I was looking for. Hansen was horrible. Some woman in Deer Park was just OK, I forgot her name. I've been to many and I only found a few to be worthwhile. I think I went to this Marie you guys mentioned. She was scary accurate.

Kim,

Was she the one that took like 4 or 5 hours of time with you? I saw a Marie off Motor Parkway and she spent close to 5 hours with me. She didn't charge me anything extra, but she really helped me through a tough time. She helped me understand what was going on in heaven and how my father is doing. If this is the same one, she was unbelievably accurate. I didn't hold much belief in psychics, but a friend recommended her and she was right.

Take care,
Beth
