America's handsome hunk from " Ghost" and " Dirty Dancing" was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2008. Although diagnosed for cancer, the heartthrob refused to let the illness take control of his life; Swayze recently held the starring role in "The Beast", an A & E Network original. But, the series was cancelled after Swayze's illness took on full effect; the cancer had spread to his liver in June.

57-year old Swayze was born in Houston, Texas to a ballet dancer (Mother) and an engineering draftsman (Father). Swayze was active in football, martial arts, a great diver and track star. But his desires fell under dancing. Believe it or not, it was ballet.
After a surgery for an old football injury, Swayze's ballet career ended. Thus, the birth of his acting career. His first opportunity was a great one: leading role of Danny Zuko in the Broadway presentation of "Grease".
This would be the first of many appearances, leading roles and cameos for Swayze. Swayze also dabbed a bit in music. He sang the hit "She's Like the Wind" for the movie "Dirty Dancing".
Although small in height, Patrick Swayze wasn't anywhere near a small man to his supporters, friends and family. He will be sadly missed.

Oh Heartbreak, Oh Heartbreak. I didn't know he had died till I saw your article. Yes, he was a fighter, certainly determined, if not to beat it, to take it as far as he could.
I know this man will be missed and you are right. He never appearead small. I feel for his wife. I think they had not only a special marriage, but one seldom found in Hollywood.
I liked the guy, Ronyae, and am sad about his disease and death. The fact that he was married to the same woman for over 30 years is impressive. He was a Hollywood good guy for sure.
WOW, now that sounds like a classic, Connor (smile). He played in a lot of great movies; I seen him playing in a more recent movie, "Powder Blue". It was good to see him on screen again.
Nicely done Ronyae, especially the last paragraph. I suspect his family would be deeply touched if they were to come across this piece. Blessings to you! Teresa
Thanks Ronyae for writing this. His performances were always so real and intense. Married for 34 years to the same woman in Hollywood --- that speaks volumes of him not as an actor, but as man. Thanks again Ronyae.
Paul, what a heartwarming compliment (hugs and smiles), you have touched me with your comment. Thanks for reading. If I could make that promise, I surely would!
