Days ago I was leaving a national chain pharmacy that had some not to be passed bargains for the week. I'm frugal. [Cheap to my closest friends, who do not clip coupons or know how to get free shipping.] I did not spend much.
What I wear inside my nest, I do not wear away from this arboreal venue.
Echoes of family from being a tiny tot. If you had an accident, you don't want your photo in the Globe looking like no one loves you. "Remember, always wear your good underwear".
I bought three items and the clerk was kind to take them to my auto. I remotely popped the trunk. The items were deposited and trunk closed in a split second. As I meandered to my car I met the neatest dressed lady and we both spoke. She was awaiting who she later introduced to me, her husband who was taking a cell call.
We began to chat about how nice she looked. She complimented me on my casual outfit. Yes, full price, outrageous, but with coupons, and free shipping very reasonable. We continued our conversation about how the younger females are dressing these days. It's not that we were being elitists, we were talking about propriety.
In my youth, we wore "thong" rubberized shoes that never left the block on the street where we lived. Now, they are called, "flip-flops" and are worn in the most inappropriate places.
The husband kept talking and we ladies did too. I recalled seeing a young mom with toddlers in a supermarket I learned we both shop. A young mom was wearing a tank top and had the with the word, " B i t c h " tattooed in Gothic script just below the base of her neck. The lettering was within the straps of her tank top and the "t" centered on her spine. The lettering was at least three inches high. Her hair was coiffed nicely and wearing lots of "club-going" jewelry. Had her shorts been an inch shorter, I'd have called them "mooners".
Women have hard enough time because of the rappers using degrading words for females. They forget a woman birthed them. Rudeness to women began long before it became glorified by the "one c-d wonders" vocalized the words.
What will this woman's children call her when they are old enough to read? In the meantime, when people call to her, "Bitch", does she answer? In a house of worship for any occasion, does her brain engage to make her think about what she has done to her body?
How can she be respected anyplace she goes and the tattoo is visible? Who will hire her in an entry job as a receptionist or greeter? If hired, does she get relegated to some back room?
Most of all, when her days are over, and St. Peter calls, to what will she answer?
I don't have a problem with her "taking back" the word she has tattooed on her and turning it into a positive (at least in certain contexts), and her appearance would be a plus in certain jobs (working in a tattoo parlour, Goth club, alternative fashion store etc) even though it would count against her in certain others (receptionist or greeter for a conventional, conservative organisation for example)
