Or that's what the man on holiday would like to think. Now, I bet your wondering what I'm talking about. Maybe it's best that I explain.

I decided to go on a holiday with my parents this year. So, in the Summer we went to Gran Canaria. Now, before we get to the man on holiday, I shall describe the hotel experience.

I frowned upon it. As my fellow SearchWarpers probably know, I love the internet. I love computers, I love technology, I love, well, everything you can think of in those categories. So naturally, I was happy to find that there was an internet cafe at my hotel. One day though, three computers crashed. One of which being mine.

So my neighbour called upon a tech guy. And he said he couldn't do anything.

I wasted my money, and we were snapped at. Naturally, I was annoyed. Seriously, a tech guy who can't solve problems!? How silly.

So, back onto the man on holiday.

My brother wanted a gift, so we were going to get him cologne, or after-shave, or whatever it was. So on the last day, we went shopping. We entered a store, an found some. But it wasn't a spray.

And that's what my brother wanted. So we asked, and the man said that they did not make spray. But my mum said that they did, because my brother got it from his holiday earlier. But the man persisted. And so did mum.

Then he snapped. Literally. He shouted "LOOK, LADY! IF THEY MAKE IT, WE HAVE IT!"

What about "the customer is always right?"

Seriously, Mr. Man, why are you so mean? We had evidence it was made, yet you still stay stubborn?

We're never shopping there again.

Now, what's the point of this story? the point is that some people aren't appropriate for their jobs. And that's the truth.

So my question is: have you guys had situations where you met a person inappropriate for their jobs?

Great article!

I've worked in Customer Service long enough to know that the customer definitely isn't always right - sometimes they are wrong and seek to blame the company for something that was actually their own fault or their own mistake.

But you're right - some people in customer service roles really aren't cut out for it! But being good at customer service means holding your ground where necessary, politely and calmly... getting snappy is never good! :)

Hi Cameron.

I have worked in Customer Service for 20+ years and I have met all kinds of customers, from the nicest to the most obnoxious. But your question is if I have met a person inappropriate for their jobs? Yes I have. I can tell immediately if a sales associate or an office clerk is just bluffing or making excuses to assist you, hiding behind company policies and not budging an inch.

Thanks for sharing and I enjoyed reading this well-written article.

Best regards,

Nenita

Great article. Well done.

I see what you are saying. The customer is not always right but nor is he/she always wrong.

However, snaping at a customer is very wrong and is certainly not a money spinner.

Hi Cameron.

I've been fortunate and have never been snapped at by a salesperson. Guess I'm just too darn nice. :) I have, however, met all sorts of people who were so not right for their jobs. It's all in the little things. I once knew someone whose vanity license plate read MIL8AGN, and was always late and worked in a business where keeping appointments was super critical. I've worked with young people who were so concerned about how they looked that they could never seem to dress appropriately for the temperature (mostly they would freeze to death and complain all day). And the list goes on. Sadly, not every one can be like me and be perfectly suited to her job. :)

Thanks for the entertaining look at your holiday.

Dianne

I know people who care more about they look than anything else. Blergh.

Thanks for the funny story and the comment!
