Topping the box office taking in over $30 million is the well-deserving film, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs.
The film adapted from the 1978 children's book by Judi and Ron Barrett is full of action keeping kids easily entertained.
My family and I went with another family to the drive-in to see it. Therefore, I will admit that we will want to go back and see the 3D version as well. The kids, ages 8, 6 and 4, were glued the moment it started. It was a joy to hear them giggling along.
I have to admit, the adults in our party were laughing just as hard, non-stop. The great thing about this movie is that there are NO slow parts. It is intense action from the start so you really have to hit the concession stand and do the bathroom thing before it begins.
The movie is only 90 minutes so for those interested in a great kid movie, it is the one to go see.
The movie offers hope for kids in that it shows kids they do not always have to be "cool" so to speak. It shows that good guys who work hard can come out on top even if they are "nerds".
To not spoil the movie, I will say it is a tale of a child nerd who grows up to invent a machine that rains food in hopes to save his town who is suffering from an economic downturn of its own. It features the voices of Bruce Campbell, James Caan and Mr T.
As a fan of the original book, I can say that I am a fan of this movie! It was well done and kept true to the original. One word of warning is that my four year old, she did get a little scared during some of the action, but a little holding and she was fine and laughing again in no time.
This is a must see family movie as well as a Best Animated Award nominee in my book!
