When you look to replace your lift table skirts you need to gather the following information before you call a supplier for a formal quotation. Without first gathering this information, you risk getting a skirt that might not fit your lifter or not function the way you want it to.
1. Gather the Correct Dimensions
You are going to have to take a tape measure to your existing lift or tilt table and gather the following dimensions. Lowered height, raised height, and the width x length of both the top and bottom of the lifter. These are the most critical pieces of information that you are going to need to provide to ensure the lift table skirts fit onto the equipment. The supplier should have a form that you can fill in to make sure you get these measurements correct.
2. Determine the lift table skirts material
If you are using the bellows in normal plant operations then it is unlikely that you will need any material besides vinyl. Vinyl is used on about 95% of all lifters and has a very good durability. However, if the equipment is going to be near hot radiant heat, or exposed to harsh chemicals such as a wash down then consult with the supplier as they might recommend a steel mesh bellows or even a Kevlar bellows.
3. Include a Ventilation panel for the lift table skirts
This is often overlooked by many engineers who order skirting even though it is very important. Each bellows should include a ventilation panel at the top of the skirt to allow air to freely flow into and out of the lifter. If these vent panels are not included, then the skirt can "suck" inward which will deform the bellows and cause premature wear. This feature really does not add that much cost for what it does to extend the lift of the bellows.
