Many of us are plagued by self doubt and feelings of general unhappiness, but we don't have to live that way. Despite your circumstances, you can be happy if you are willing to take some steps to make it happen. We are responsible for our own feelings. It doesn't matter who or what you feel made you unhappy. The circumstances, or the person(s) you think is responsible has little to do with how you feel, unless you give them that power.

The first step is to realize that you have the power to decide what you feel. No one else has that power. This can be a little intimidating at first, as we take responsibility for our own feelings, but when you really look into your own heart, you will know that you have the choice to feel happy or sad. Take a deep breath and look closely at what you are feeling. If you are angry or feeling victimized, analyze why that is the case. Chances are you have some forgiving to do. Releasing your pain and hurt will allow your emotions to begin to heal.

The true meaning of forgiveness is to cancel. Cancel the debt you are holding in your mind. In most cases we need to cancel many debts to ourselves. Forgive your self, in other words. If there are things in life where you feel you have let yourself down, cancel those things. They have no power over your thoughts if you forgive yourself for them. Forgive others and forgive the circumstances that you are unhappy about. If financial debts are a problem, forgive yourself for allowing them into your life. Cancel those debts mentally and allow yourself to feel the forgiveness flow over you.

Breathe deeply again and start taking note of all that you do have, rather than what you don't. Allow yourself to experience gratitude. Gratitude is a major door to happiness! Now, allow yourself to feel love. If gratitude is the door to happiness, then love is the key. Feel love for those around you. If you don't have anyone around you, then feel love for yourself. You are a creature created in the image of love. Allow that to lead you through the door into happiness. Fear and doubt detour destiny. Don't allow them to cloud one moment of your day!

Jay Hopson is a creature of his own making. Bankrupt at age 52, he did some major self examination and realized a great deal of his problems were caused by his own habits and belief system. Changing those beliefs  has become the most fascinating process in his life. See how he does it at:

I couldn't agree more Marijo... As they used to say in my home state... vote early and often... lol... in this case... forgive early and often!
