People keep asking what it takes to enjoy classic television series. But if this question is simplified, then it amounts to "What is the best way to access and watch television series from yesteryear"?

But the answer is a simple one. This is the era of the World Wide Web. The boom of the internet has made it easy and simple to enjoy lots of things – even old classic television series. So all you need is a high speed web connection and you're mostly set to go.

If you have this simple arrangement, you should have absolutely no problem streaming or downloading your favorite television shows from the days of classic TV – because much of it is online now. But what exactly is considered classic TV? Today, there are television shows available on the worldwide web from every decade from the very beginning in the 1940s.

If you browse through the online services offering you classic TV series, you will see that the majority of them are offering you the most popular shows from the 1950's or to the early 1980's (or sometimes the 90"s).

Though the 90's shows may not be considered as classic as those from earlier decades, most people like calling them classics. But perhaps we should look at the brighter side? People often consider things classic that were "in vogue" when they were teenagers so someone born in the 1970s could already be considering television series from the 1990s to be classics.

In any case, classic TV shows are ones that originally aired in the past. Yet another way of looking at it is that the word "classic" means something that belongs to a certain "class." In keeping with that, classic shows are divided into a variety of classes.

Do you remember Sea Hunt or the Life of Riley? Both of them were in Black & White. But these classics were not in the same categories. While Sea Hunt was an action/adventure series, the Life of Riley was a traditional comedy show.

Moving a bit closer to our time, we see the hit children's sci-fi series, "Lost in Space". This was one of many shows that started being broadcast in black and white before transitioning to color. Others in that era included "Bonanza" and "Bewitched". Both these shows were pioneering the technology of their times.

Advancing even more in time, there were prime time soap operas like "Dallas" or "Dynasty". These are the series that fall into another popular category – pure drama. On the other hand, if you look at the popular series that rocked the TV screens in the 80s and 90s, you see a large hype for action thrillers or pure thrillers.

Good examples of those are – "Police Woman", "The Six Million Dollar Man", "Charlie's Angels" or "Starsky and Hutch". As time passed by, audience's tastes changed, which brought forward all time popular shows like- "The Fall Guy", "MacGyver", and "Hardcastle and McCormick".

A little later came pure cheap entertainers like "48 Hours," "Primetime Live," and "Movies of the Week". But even in the 90s, Hollywood never really lacked the supply of comedies – I hope you remember "Friends" and "Married With Children".

Here"s a mixed list of some of America's most beloved classic television series:

"I Love Lucy," "The Honeymooners," "The Andy Griffith Show," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "Leave it to Beaver," "Rawhide," "My Three Sons," "Gunsmoke," "Bonanza," "I Dream of Jeannie," "Combat!," "The Beverly Hillbillies," "Green Acres," "Star Trek," "The Time Tunnel," "Flipper," "Mission Impossible," "Dr. Kildare," "The Phil Silvers Show," "You Bet Your Life," "The Brady Bunch," and  "Dragnet."

As previously stated, many of these classic TV shows can be watched online today. Just either go to your favorite video site and search for the series of your choice or find your show at a search engine by searching for the name of the show plus the word "online".
