Ever wonder why you have trouble getting ahead financially? That very thought could be your reason. Researchers are coming more and more to the conclusion that our thoughts actively work to produce like results. In other words, if you believe it's hard to make a living, your subconscious is moving heaven and earth to make sure that is the case. How many of us think like millionaires? Probably only about 5 to 6 percent of the population have the mental attitudes and imagery to see themselves in that way. The good news is that there's a lot we can do as individuals to change our mental imagery.

A thought is like a seed and like produces like. You can't plant corn and expect to reap watermelon, just as you can't continually plant thoughts of failure and reap success. Another fact researchers have found is that a thought about what you don't want, is just as powerful as a thought about what you do. This explains a lot. Why is there so much poverty in the world? Because so many people focus their minds on worry about what they don't want. The only way to change what you reap is to change what you plant!

There are many ways you can do this. Positive thinking books abound as well as seminars and self help gurus. I personally think it takes a more personal approach to be effective. Too many people have come away from motivational speeches all geared up for success, only to find themselves back in the same boat a few weeks later. Lasting change starts with you and ends with you. First of all you need to take a mental inventory of the seeds you've been planting. Take note of your thoughts and the images that run through your mind for a few days. These habitual thoughts can only be reversed by specific and personal scrutiny.

Make it your daily focus to find the specific seeds (thoughts) that have been planted and reverse them into success seeds. Build a new and more positive thought pattern by daily planting these new seeds. Remember the crops you have harvested have taken years to plant so make this a habit that will last a life time. Water these new seeds with more of the same, and fertilize them by making them a priority in your life. Little by little, you will begin to reap your new lifestyle of success.

Great article. Very good point, this is also a belief that I subscribe to. Your brain is a servo mechanism that creates reality out of the thoughts you hold in your mind the most. This should bring hope to people who wish to set goals and achieve them.

Yes.. I think to some this, knowledge can seem like a two edge sword.... at first it is intimidating to know we have to be so responsible about what we think.... but it is liberating when we fully grasp it.. to know that we have the ability to change our thoughts and change our lives! Thank you for commenting!

I agree with this 100% I changed my mental outlook several years ago and since then my business and personal life have both thrived. I have also distanced myself from some of the negative people in my life.
