Don't give up on your dreams! Do you remember when you were younger and the possibilities seemed endless? Have your dreams faded with age and obstacles? The only things keeping you from being who you want to be, are the stories you tell yourself about why you can't be that person. All of us build up these stories as we get older. If you've lived in the same skin for long, you tend to start doubting the only person who can help you, and that is yourself. Those perceptions are the main thing that keep us in the rut we've built for ourselves. The great news is that anyone can dig their way out. You dug the rut with your own negative stories and perceptions. You can now fill it in with more productive stories and, in time, use it as a highway to the new you.

There are three steps you can take that will propel you into your destiny. These three steps will cover all you need to do, but you have to be detailed and specific as you cover these steps.

The Three Steps

  1. Laser like focus on what you want

Start building up an inner image of yourself as the person you want to become. You've had a life time of practice NOT seeing yourself that way, so it will take time and discipline to change that image of yourself. Remember, thoughts about what you don't want are just as powerful as those about what you do.

  2. Get the Best Coaches..

Study people that already are the kind of person you want to be. Read about them, find out what they did to become the people they are. What steps did they take to get to where they are in life.

  3. Become aware of, and break through your inner conflict

Write down every fear or concern you have about becoming the person you want to be... Become aware of those fears and doubts so they can't ambush you later on. Ask yourself what the cost is, if you don't change. Write down anything you don't want to have to do to reach your goal.

Now take what you've written down and be honest with yourself. Is it worth it to be what you want to be? If so, then start using your mental power to reverse every single fear. Commit to doing those things that you don't want to do to reach your goal. Use fear to your advantage. Get afraid of the cost of failure.

If you see it working part of the time, and not working all the time, your image is still unclear. Refocus , burn this new thought pattern or image into your mind. See yourself clearly as the person you want to become and the pathway and opportunities will appear.

Great article, Jay. I agree wholeheartedly! My mother had a saying--"can't never did anything!" We were never allowed to say, "I can't". It stuck with me and I have always been like the little engine that 'could'.

Thanks for a great reminder of what we should be doing.

Hi Jay, thanks for this positive message. Negative thoughts are like poison, they can lead to negative decisions if not done away with. Blessings to you! Teresa

Thank you Teresa. I agree. The bible teaches us these things too... "taking every thought captive."

Hi Jay.

You are a true life coach. It is fear as well as the cost of failure preventing me from doing things toward a productive goal. Using these to my advantage will propel me to fulfilling my dreams. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and knowledge.

God bless and good day!

Dreaming is great but too often we dream and don't follow through. Good advice.

I agree Lorrie. Actions are important, but, if we lose focus on the dream our actions won't be aimed at anything and usually take us in another direction.
