We are living in a complex world where technology becomes the master and those who are not tech savvy are doomed to serve a tertiary position moving forward. Fundamental to this problematic condition is our ability to educate ourselves. Unless we know how to learn we will be swayed to the opinions of those marketing gurus who are not informing us as much as they are manipulating us with emotional and physiological triggers looking for a predictable buying response. Food manufactures have discovered that adding sugar, salt and fat to any product creates an insatiable trigger compelling the consumer to over eat rendering corporate profits fat from the abuse of consumers who pay in addition to price the cost of good health suffering higher than normal rates of diabetes, hyper tension and heart disease.

Medicine speaks to alternative healthcare as well as education that looks for answers that the current mass main stream of offers fail to provide the carrot that we are constantly baited with. In terms of education we can no longer operate on the assumption that schools are teaching our children in fact they are not. Public schools are dumping grounds for government contracts to provide curriculum for students who nationally are failing. There is something inherently wrong with this equation of schools equal to education when the national standards are quantitatively saying that the schools are failing so the logical assumptive is that the curriculum has equally failed.

Big business would have us drug dependent and public education would limit us into a menial labor jobs to produce the drugs that we consume. We are no longer building pyramids for the pharaohs we are producing drugs. So shouldn't the alternative to all of this be in our thinking? Where is the critical pedagogy that so many of our leading universities have championed? We are no longer critical in our approach and nothing seems to be relative.

I completely agree with you! Our school system is so far beyond China's, we are doomed! I am on my third year of homeschooling my daughter because of this. Our schools are just a nice babysitter and break from our children. Ship them off and let someone else deal with them seems to be the general attitude.

And the food issue?? Hello, we are becoming an OBESE nation...EXERCISE people!

Thanks man!

Homeschooling is the best experience you can share with your children as a parent. I did it for three years returning my children to the system knowing they were far ahead of the curve. My children’s performance stunned the DOE. Amazed at what home schooling could actually produce I was interviewed by the local university asking me what I perceived the winning pedagogy to be. I simply said homeschooling gave me more time to love my children and they in turn paid attention as a result of my focus on them. The three oldest are in college and the two youngest still in high school. All are on deans list or honor roll. My kids are just ordinary living an extra ordinary life style. Homeschooling is the way to go.

I applaud your effort to homeschool. It is definitely becoming more widely accepted and appreciated as a real educational option.
