Personal details and business information are more valuable than ever nowadays. Criminals will try to scam the information out of you anyway they can, the reward is high. Here are some to help you prevent fraud in your company:

Connection to the internet leaves your business open to attack so install, use and update regularly anti-virus and anti-spyware software on all computers in the business. It's also a must to have a firewall on your computer or network to prevent hackers attempting to install their scam software on your systems.

Ensure your computer/s have the latest software security updates. With 95% of systems in the world using windows software, it means hackers can exploit vulnerabilities in the system and of your system isn't up to date then your left open to criminals fraud attacks.

The biggest action you can take to prevent your business from scam attempts is to educate employees. There should be employee training for existing employees and for new employees before they start using your systems. Teach them how fraudulent attacks work and things they should avoid when using the internet. They should be aware of the dangers of e-mail scams. Never click on suspicious e-mails as they have the potential to infect computers with scam software and keyloggers. The keyloggers can pick up sensitive company information and transmit them back to criminals who will use them in their fraud schemes to scam customers.

Encrypt sensitive files and password-protect laptops to prevent the information ending up in the wrong hands and being used in a scam. Also don't write passwords down or leave them on your desk.

File away bank statements and other sensitive documents.

Run background checks on new employee applicants. Just as you would when dealing with a new business customer when deciding on credit terms, you need to research applicants history to ensure they haven't been involved in any fraud schemes or accused of taking part in scams. This stage is very important before they get access to your sensitive information.

Please implement these fraud prevention tips into your business.

To keep up to date with the latest scams in use and hear fraud cases that are affected other businesses then attend a professional fraud prevention seminar.

The marcus evans scam conferences have high profile attendees sharing their experiences and presentations on what scams are making the rounds.
