The unique combination of healing salts in the water, unique sunlight and an oxygen rich atmosphere, all go together to show amazing relief for psoriasis, eczema and rheumatism sufferers. For many patients, a course of treatments not only causes symptoms of their ailments to disappear completely but also make recurrences of the disease far less severe and attacks further apart.

Dead Sea Spa's are set at the lowest spot on the surface of the planet and have an unprecedented success rate in dealing with psoriasis, eczema and rheumatism. Why is this? What makes this area so different? The answer can be found in three factors: Air, Water and Sun.

Let's take a closer look at each:

  • Air - As the lowest spot on the earth, air pressure is higher, the air more dense and rich in bromine and other substances which act as a natural filter for the sun's harmful UVB rays. This means that patients with psoriasis or eczema can spend longer in the sun, reaping the therapeutic benefits of the sun's rays without the danger of sunburn.
  • Water - The is 10 times richer in salts and minerals than normal sea water and saturated with hydrogen sulfide gas. Other minerals enriching the water include magnesium, sodium, potassium and calcium, each of which has immense therapeutic effects for different aspect of psoriasis or other skin diseases.
  • Sun - A recent study showed that just bathing in water showed an improvement rate for psoriasis, eczema and rheumatism sufferers of some 20%. When controlled sun exposure was added to immersion in the water, improvement rates shot up to 83.4%. Over the years, research has been conducted into the optimum times and length of sun exposure needed for different periods of the year. For example, a study carried out during July and August found that patients who spent only three hours per day in the sun, experienced significant improvement in their condition.
