"What we learn in our universities can make us wealthy and famous, what we learn in life can make us wise and loving"Dave Tanguay
Formal education is important to the survival of our nation and our world. For a constructive education can bring to us the vital concepts of life in general. It can explain the makings of our chemistry also how we got here and where we are going. (Mainly in theories)
However, what we learn without the written word, i.e. what we pick up in life just living day by day can be an education in its own.
For although the science of psychology may disagree with my theory of love, I believe we are born with love I do not believe we have to learn how to love. I agree that perhaps we may have acquired certain psychological traits from our upbringing nevertheless our heart has always been with us as we developed in mind, body, heart and soul.
"Psychology is a science which relates to the study of the mind, however most abnormalities in the mentally ill are related to the heart"Dave Tanguay
I believe we should combine formal education with casual knowledge. (On the other hand, common sense) for it is in our nature to adhere to our natural callings, those of us who need a blueprint to run our lives are not in reality human like but rather automatons.
Human development i.e. conditions relating to our human characteristics such as our biological structure can lead us to an understanding of our physical make-up. However, our human development is the makings of not only our biological facets but also our spiritual well-being.
What separates us from the animal kingdom is a spirit and a soul. Of course, our mentality far exceeds that of animals as well. For we have the power of reasoning and a far advanced and developed mind.
Now don't get me wrong I am not a critic of higher education in fact I believe in our universities for bringing us the knowledge in coping with today's complex world. Man's intelligence is a gift from God surely, he (God) intended us as his children to open the fields of higher knowledge and to discover the many wonders out there.
What I am trying to stress is the fact that the simple things in life can also be complex in their own way. So complex that they stir up the soul and leave us at awe with a fascination of their own.
Great article--great insights. I teach in college and every class I teach I combine the realities of life, common sense, ways that stir students inner being (spirit, soul, whatever some may call) to coincide with the subject matter. I believe higher learning without the realities of "life" or the spirit etc involved is not nearly as effective as just going through the technical aspects. Students also enjoy learning like this because I believe; we all have an ingrained spirit that wants to be a part of it all.
Awesome article. I slightly disagree on some points but i believe you have a great state of mind, and with that, you can show the true meaning of love.
