Lord Jesus, please help us to cherish each other with Your kind of love to respect and delight in and honor each other. Let us put an end to the "digs" and unkindnesses.
Help us to build up and not destroy. Unify us in "one flesh" with Your Spirit, Lord God. Help us, I pray!
Help my heart to repent. I don't want to be selfish, proud or reacting in a nasty, defensive way. I want to get rid of "high places" and totally yield to You in ALL areas of my life.
Father, please, at all times help us both to remember we are on the same team and it is only the enemy who would have us convinced otherwise. AMEN
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. (NIV)
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christloved the church and gave himself up for her (NIV)
Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. (NIV)
and the two will become oneflesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. (NIV)

Marijo Phelps was saved by His grace in 1974, from 9 years of professing atheism into His loving arms. She lives with her husband in the middle of a mountain meadow. She is wanting to spread the good news about His redemptive plan for our lives through written media. Her name is pronounced Mary Jo (her dad got cute with the spelling of it). She was an RN for 23+ years, missionary with YWAM then statistical analyst for Every Home for Christ over 9 years. She had her first poem published when she was four years old (her mom might have had more than a little to do with that!) She has been writing ever since.
Hi Marijo. Good stuff here. I was not surprised to see Phil 2:3 here and would add verse 4 to it: "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." In place of the word 'interests' my pastor recently suggested inserting any word, finances, health, fun, well-being, etc. Thanks for sharing your heart.
Still good when it comes up on Readers' Club! I like the change you made. That has become one of my favorite passages of scripture and one I unfortunately struggle with.

It is older material but we have had our moments - right now we are growing together and, after 24 years growing up too I hope! Thanks for reading and commenting, Nenita! Marijo
What a great recipe for marriage and for life! Thank you for these uplifting words. By the way, I am glad to know how your name is pronounced. It is easier for me to write it now.

I am SO sorry - I, above many, should get the names straight with one spelled like mine is! (I worked with a wonderful RN named Tilly and think I was flashing back to her!) Please forgive me?! Marijo
The Bible says, 'you will be judged by your works' and your works of spreading the wonderful news of God and His goodness and Jesus and His great love for man; should win you your own crown one day. God Bless and may He live in your heart forever.
Well.... thanks for your kind words, Sandra, I just returned from a wonderful 3 day ladies retreat - The Lord was there, big time. the ladies were open and transparent and CHANGED.... He is knocking on so many doors - praying that many will hear Him and answer their door and ASK...HE is more than willing to forgive those for whom He died! We have received the BEST gift in eternity - how can we help but share that news and challenge others to think and decide?! Blessings! Marijo
