It's easy to just give up and throw in the towel if things seem broken in your marriage but what you may not know is that there are many benefits to working things out and staying together. Here are a few.

Marriage Will Keep You from Going Crazy

Contrary to what was once believed, marriage is equally beneficial to the emotional and mental health of both parties. Before when conducting studies they thought the women that were married were better off than men emotionally due to certain testing parameters like passivity, depression and anxiety which we now know that women as a group in general tend to score higher in these areas anyway compared to men and that men in unbalanced emotional states may show as alcohol and drug abuse. The new data does support that both parties on average or more emotionally balanced.

You Don't Have to Look Your Age

What? Yes, it's true. Being married can actually shave a few years off your looks. Women that are married and not subjected to substantial amounts of sun ie: tanning, tend to look on average of 7 yrs younger, at least, than un-married women of the same age.

You Will Have More Money in the Piggy Bank

As a majority of marital issues stem from financial problems within the household, getting a divorce may seem like the answer but 47% of those who divorce see their financial problems worsen as a result. Right off the bat you are going to incur attorney expenses which can take more than a nibble out of your bank account and that's just for starters. Before it's all over, up to 35% of those divorced found themselves in debt, borrowing money from family and friends, selling off their property and cashing out of their paper investments.

You May Be Saving You Children from a Lifetime of Failed Relationships

Marriage is work. It takes empathy, compassion, love and lots and lots of communication. It's about compromising, not quitting when things get tough and following through on commitment. While most kids may say that they will not do that to their kids, the fact is that most children of divorce have a much higher occurrence of divorce than those from homes without divorce. Not only that but children of divorced parents tend to marry more often in their teens or just living with others without marrying.

So while divorce may be something you and/or your spouse are considering, you can see that there are several good reasons for attempting to work things out and making your marriage work if at all possible. You may wish to reconnect with your spouse on your own or seek professional help to see if you can save your marriage.
