Clothing brought to us by top name fashion designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton and Julien Macdonald can be too expensive for people on an average wage.

However here are a few tips on how you too can look good for less and grab yourself a bargain.

Shop Online

Many people shop online as it is the easiest way to shop. Despite what many people think online shopping is one of the safest ways to purchase items as trusted sites have extra privacy.

With the busy lifestyle that we all seem to lead we are now using the internet more and more for our shopping, from ordering our groceries online to buying goods through auction sites.

Here are some reasons why we shop online:

Significantly Lower Prices: Online stores have less operating and overhead costs which, as a result, creates lower prices for the consumer.

Online Coupons and Sales: Shoppers can easily save more money by doing online shopping and using coupon codes and looking for items with free/reduced shipping cost. As an added bonus if you are a frequent shopper at an online store many stores can award you with coupon codes.

Wide Selection: By looking at products in forums and the internet you can know the true details of the product you are purchasing along with knowing the price range. All the information provided online can result in you making a well-versed decision. The idea of having a good selection to choose from is of prime importance. Today there would seem to be no difference in selection between shopping in the high street or online. In fact there are more products to choose from online than there is from the high street store. When there are new releases of products, these normally appear online before they are in the high street stores. From choosing televisions or just grocery items or maybe a holiday, all these and more are available to the potential buyer.

Convenience: Many online stores are open around the clock which lets you shop at your convenience. Also elderly people who become tired and weary of walking or parents with young children find it a convenience to stay in your seat and shop. The idea of being able to shop from the comfort of our home and buy literally anything and have it delivered directly to us is very attractive. It is much more convenient than going out and having to stand in huge queues at the high street store. Then there is the added advantage of being able to take time to browse at all the different products available. One group of people who would certainly benefit from online shopping are those that work odd hours. There is no need to worry if the shop is closed; with online shopping they are open 24 hours a days, 365 days a year.

Less Pollution: You can not only save money on gas but you can also reduce pollution by lowering your carbon footprint. Shopping online saves you from emitting chemicals into the air as you wait to find a parking spot or drive to your destination.

Time Management: Time is very precious in our society thus busy people, or people who do not like to waste time can with a few clicks of the mouse buy items and have it shipped directly to your door.

Another way to shop online is to use ex chainstore clothing companies. These are companies which buy direct from the original clothing manufacturer at a huge discount and pass the savings onto the consumer. The clothes purchased from the manufacturer are due to the manufacturer over producing an item or a cancelled order. They are the exact same item you would find in any high street store such as Burtons or Top Shop.

Clothing Sample Sales

Clothing sample sales are a way you can get your hands on designer clothes at bargain prices. To put it in a nutshell, these are events where designers sell their clothing for very low prices.

The items are often clothes with minor flaws or clothes that were overproduced from the current and past seasons and they may include samples of items in the designer's line, so you can be fashionable without spending all your money.

Make sure to check for any imperfections as you may need to have them repaired. You have to weigh up the cost of repairs and if the final product will be worth its money.

In Store Sales

The best time to shop in any department store is when new season clothing comes in and they sell last seasons clothing at a significant discount. Keep your eyes open for sales that offer big discounts like clearance sales where you are able to find great buys among the out of season items.

Do It Yourself

That's right. If you have a sewing machine you can copy the styles that you see by any well know designer. Remember this is how those expensive clothes were made in the start.

You can duplicate any style and colour and even change the design to suit you and your preferences.

Money off Coupons

Another way you save money on designer clothes is to use discount or money off coupons.

You do not need to spend huge amounts of money to be fashionable. You just need originality and an eye for style.

Great Article! Good tips for saving money. Another thing to do that isn't so obvious is to donate clothes you haven't worn in a year to charity. If you track what you give, you can take a tax deduction for the gifts. If you get the program, Its Deductible, you can see what the IRS expects you to value things at for deduction purposes and track what you give and assign a value to it. The tax savings could really add up over the year, especially for women's clothes.
