Europe a dazzling array of charm, diversity, and cultures. Landscapes that take your breath away. Architecture that is unparalleled. Foods and wines that delight your culinary senses. Music that identifies the soul of a nation. This is Europe now but its future looks bleak.

In order for a culture to continue in its present form, the fertility rate must be 2.11 children. Anything less and the culture dies. When you look at the numbers, if each set of parents has only one child, you have reduced the newborn population by half. If those offspring have only one child, you have cut the newborn population down by 75%. These numbers are then impossible to reverse. A culture cannot survive a continual decrease in its population and we see this happening at an alarming rate in Europe and Great Britain .

Presently, the average birthrate for all European countries is 1.38 children per family, excluding the Muslim population. This is cause for alarm because if these statistics continue, Europe will be a Moslem continent within the next 39 years and, in some instances, sooner.

France 's fertility rate is presently 1.8. Among Muslims in France , it is 8.1. In southern France, historically one of the largest church regions in the world, mosques now outnumber churches. By 2027, 1 in 5 Frenchmen will be Muslim and in less than 40 years, France will be an Islamic republic. In the process, its economy will decline, because its greatest export (as well as its vineyards) will be gone. Remember, alcohol and Islam do not mix!

These numbers are not just typical of France however. 50% of all babies born in the Netherlands are Muslim; and, in only 15 years, half of the Dutch population will be Muslim. In Russia , 1 in 5 are Muslims. If this rate continues, 40% of Russia 's army will be Islamic in just a few years. Not to be outdone, the German fertility rate is only 1.3 and the German Federal Statistics Office is predicting that Germany will be a Muslim state by the year 2050.

In England, the Muslim population has increased from 80,000 to 2.5 million since the early 80's. With over a staggering 1,000 mosques in England, many of these mosques are former churches; and, because church attendance has declined by more that 50% in the last 30 years, many of England 's other cathedrals and churches are now museums.

If you think this is not cause for concern, you are mistaken. As Muammar al-Gaddafi has said, "There are signs that Allah will grant victory to Islam in Europe without swords, without guns, without conquest. We don't need terrorists, we don't need homicide bombers. The 50+million Muslims (in Europe ) will turn it into a Muslim continent with a few decades!"

Love your bangers and mash or bacon in the morning? Eat up now while you still can England . Similarly, if pork fat is on the menu in Germany and Austria, store up on this specialty since pork is taboo for the Muslims. Of course, in the long run, it really won't matter because there will no longer be Europeans inhabiting Europe .

If you dream of taking in the ambience of Paris with a marvelous Merlot at an outdoor cafe, I suggest you plan your trip before 2050. Somehow, I don't think 'people watching' will be quite as exhilarating with all those burkas in the way!

Rev,

I think the one of the best things we could do over here is to stop worrying about the economy, the healthcare reform, the Olympics or whatever and just go to bed!   How about a glass of Zinfandel instead?

Thank you for commenting.

Angie,

Interesting comment. It is something to keep in mind. At this stage, however, America is hanging in there. Our fertility rate is still over 2 children per family. Thank you for reading this.

One does not take the time to think about this, but your article has definitely made the topic come 'home' so to speak. This is reality and we should all take note of what is happening globally to neighboring countries.

Nancy, I heard of this phenomenon. It would be great if you would cite your source of the statistics. This should be a wake up call for Americans because it seems that the same circumstances may be occuring in the US.

Deana,

There is good information about this topic coming from bipartisan think tanks worldwide as well as news articles from various countries. My fear is that the European countries will lose their identity.  If the birthrate continues to decline, as it is over there, it is physically impossible for a culture to continue. If you do the numbers, within 3 generations, the culture is doomed.

Thanks for responding.

Wow. This hits my own knowledge and passion only it brings it on with statistics. I don't know about these statistics but I do know that the world as it once was is changing so rapidly that, in truth, I had not seen this coming as recently as 12 years ago. One thing is for sure, no one will ever force me into a burka, not now, not tomorrow, not ever!

Dear Old Gray Mare,

All you have to do is check the birthrate of these countries. My fear is not so much what is coming as much as what will be lost.

Using pseudo-science to summon popular opinion against a religious ethnic group "taking over Europe". Hmmm...that's been done before.

Also, I am deeply, deeply suspicious of this "10%" statistic that is being carelessly tossed about here, with respect to the numbers of Muslims that want to "slit my throat". This article appeals to the dark side of human nature.

Dear Anon,

I am not against the Muslims peoples; I am against the radical extremists who are intent upon the destruction of the infidels.

You are welcome to think that 10% is too high a number. I'd rather not think that it is 10% either; however, if the numbers are correct, which I got from any number of sources dealing with statistics and religion, then there are at least 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide and that is probably on the low side. If only 1% of these peoples are interested in eliminating the infidel, then there would only be 15 million intent on our destruction. Yes, that is definitely a number I can stomach more readily.

Perhaps the only thing that would improve this article is if you wrote your sources into the narrative for example: "According to _____________ France's fertility rate is presently 1.8." I believe it would add credibility to what is otherwise a good-reading article.

Michael,

The World Population Prospects, The 2006 Revision, by the UN is quite good. While it includes the fertility rates for the country based on population only, unfortunately, Great Britian and Europe are declining in numbers. That is what bothers me as well as the fact that America will be heading in the same direction if we don't increase our fertility rates.

Leon,

You are correct; however, there are articles (not often easily found) from legitimate publications that are aware of what is happening.   While the numbers given may be on the high side, the fact that the fertility rate is below 2 in Europe  -- see UN report -- can only mean the decline of the cultural. That is what really bothers me.

Thanks for commenting.

I am not a muslim but I find this sentence offensive. Why is it cause for alarm? The whole tone of this article is racist.

Ruth,

I am sorry if you felt this article was racist. It wasn't meant to be. The point of this article was the fact that each individual country which makes up Europe and Great Britian will no longer be distinctive by its culture because of the low fertility rates.

Am I pleased to see these cultures being remade into Muslim cultures? No. Just as I would be sad to see our America culture changing to embrace beliefs that I cannot follow. There are many countries which are Muslim and should remain so. My question is why Ghaddafi is pleased that Europe will become a Muslim state if their intent is not to 'take over' the world and eliminate the infidel?

Incidentally, I would not be pleased to see 'Paris' in Iran or 'Berlin' in Saudi Arabia.  One of the marvels of this great world is the individuality of its cultures.  It is a shame they cannot remain as they have been.

I also find parts of this offensive and at best ignorant.

I'm old enough to remember in the 1960's and 1970's the stories being passed around about Blacks in America. They were reproducing at alarming rates which "threatens to put the American way of life at risk." (That's such a bigoted statement I could hardly bring myself to type it.)  There were facts and figures thrown around just as Ms. Daniels is throwing around facts and figures.

Then in the 1990's and early 2000's it was the Hispanics. Because of racial and religious reasons they were "reproducing at an alarming rate." Again, similar facts and statistics were used to back this up.

Now, ever since 9/11 it's been the Muslims that are now a threat because of their high fertility rate.

The fact is that this is fear mongering at its' finest, a technique used to scare the ill-informed, which has been employed for centuries.

The two major flaws in this fear tactic are:

1. The closer that minority groups come to being mainstream (upwardly mobile, educated, middle-class) the fewer children they have automatically. This is evident with American Blacks and Hispanics, this is also evident in the most industrialized and educated Muslim counties.  This is even evident in Whites as they go from lower class to middle class.  It's human nature.

2. While minority populations grow, the progressives will take care of the fundamentalist / extremists. Using Ms. Daniels dubious numbers, if the Muslim population expands 10 fold and 10% are fundamentalist / extremists bent on killing 'infidels,' then the 90% has also expanded 10 fold and they are our allies against religious extremism.

Knowing that the 90% (though I believe it is a much higher percentage) of the growth of the Muslim World will be our allies in the fight against extremism / terrorism, it is imperative that Americans recognize who our real allies are. Let me repeat that: Our greatest allies in fighting Muslim religious extremism / terrorism are Muslim. To not recognize this is delusional, and to go around trying to scare people with incomplete or incorrect information is irresponsible.

The problem is that to admit this, you would have to admit that President Obama's approach to peace by engaging the Muslim world is the only viable solution.  I don't think that Ms. Daniels is willing to do this.

ExConservative, I find your comments just as offensive. I never knew of the concern of Blacks reproducing at alarming rates as you say. And yes, you are correct. It is a tough one to even type something so cruel; however, it has never been the intention of the Black or Hispanic peoples to destroy Western civilization. It is also not the majority of the Muslim peoples that are of concern. It is the extremists. I think extremism, be it Islamic, conservative, or liberal is dangerous.

Why is it so difficult to understand that if a culture is not reproducing at a certain percentage level, the culture dies? That is my concern. And those figures cannot be disputed.

And you are correct, those people who become upwardly mobile indeed have fewer children – yes, they are not having the large numbers of children we see in less developed countries, but that does not necessarily mean less than 2 children per family. We have upwardly mobile, educated, middle class Americans who are having more than 2 children per family. Admittedly, they don’t necessarily live in New York City or Hollywood but they are producing. And, admittedly they tend to be religious and they tend to be conservative. There are thousands of educated stay-at-home moms in this country whose job, first and foremost, is to raise their children. And I think that is more important than anything else.

Regarding the progressives taking care of the fundamentalist/extremists, please tell me how that is happening. By talking to people who would sooner behead you and video it for all the world to see? And, in addition, please tell me why the Muslims have not taken a stand against the radicals. Please show me why they have not had a voice against stoning a woman to death because she was raped. Or expressing their horror over honor killings by Muslim fathers here in America. Where is the Muslim voice against such atrocities and barbarism? Show it to me. I would love to see it.

Dear Nancy,

I have read with interest your article on the changing demographics in Europe. I have seen similar information presented in other venues and I believe it a subject that all should be aware of.

I see nothing in your content which is derogatory or inflammatory and thereby I do not understand the comments accusing you of being a racist or a fear monger. In those comments where those accusations are put forth, I note with interest that there is no reasonable rebuttal – just name calling.

It has been my observation that when some people do not have a valid reply, they resort to the leftist playbook and pull out the current politically correct “trigger phrases” and point fingers rather than debate the issue.

This is a case where important information is being put forth and at the very least is worthy of consideration as opposed to pretending it is not happening and then resorting to insults directed toward the messenger. I admire your courage in posting what I’m sure you knew in advance would be controversial.

In closing, where did you say that “all Muslims want to blow people up?”  I sure don’t see that, but someone has deliberately embellished this thread with inflammatory rhetoric that was never stated by you. Again, not a reasonable discourse – just reactionary catch phrases from the leftist playbook. That is what I find to be offensive.
