Although a dignified dress doesn't normally leaves much scope for personalization, accessories can come handy to cater to your desire to express yourself. This is where mens cufflinks come into play as they can add mood, colour and personality to your outfit. There are many expressive styles of designer cufflinks such as novelty, crystal, coloured enamel, mother-of-pearl and animals cufflinks for men available in the market. Considering the large options of designs available, it is obvious that you will get one that not just fits well with the social occasion, but your personality too.

Though the diversity in cufflinks for men allows you the luxury to find out just the right ones to harmonise with your outlook, it can also  make it very discouraging, due to the multiple alternatives on offer! A question that a large number of men ponder over often is whether the designer cufflinks genuinely need to match their ties? Common observation and thought of many people establishes the fact that designer cufflinks and ties of coordinated designs and colours yield a really smart look to the individual wearing them.

If your business calls for that you dress in a conservative manner, a standard pair of designer cufflinks will work the best for you. You can also select classy designs or strong colours, co-ordinated with the tie to provide a pink-collar and smart look. Some regular cufflink styles are ovals, rectangles (well-known as barrels or barcode cufflinks), squares and circles. Mens cufflinks made with chrome give a real, clean and modern-day feel. It's mandatory that you should possess at least one pair of classic cufflinks to provide little flexibility to your wardrobe. Classic cufflinks for men match very well with highly patterned/detailed shirts as well.

If it's a social event that you are attending, it will serve you best to be a little daring/experimental while selecting your designer cufflinks. If it is a black tie occasion, you can go in for a classically cool look by putting on a harmonising pair of black cufflinks, sprinkled with little silver/crystal to leave that glittery appearance. On wonderful social functions like weddings, cufflinks produced with semiprecious stones such as mother-of-pearl/sapphires will give that elegance to your dress, and not make it very loud too.

If the idea of putting on cufflinks is to stick out from the rest of the people, coloured crystal cufflinks/bright coloured enamel cufflinks will make the safest pick. The design of your designer cufflinks will have to be matchless, preferably using hand enameling methods, so as to provide that elaborate look. Donning multicoloured cufflinks on a neutral shirt & suit will also be a good option. Cufflinks produced with coloured fiber optic glass that has the ability to reflect light can also be considered apt to offer that jazzy look.

To tell the truth there aren't any particular hard and fast conventions to abide by when you're looking for the perfect cufflinks for men. Cufflinks actually are to do with personal preferences. Points we've talked about above are only few broad guidelines that can be consulted to during your search for the nicest pairing options.

If you are one who can even pull off orange socks under a suit, and can look stylish in even the loudest apparels, you without doubt know which designer cufflinks to put on! In the end keep in mind that cufflinks are created to heighten and add to your dress, and must therefore be worn to do the same.

Alex,

Interesting, novel topic. I had never given much thought to cufflinks probably because business attire is less and less common these days -- which is a shame. Certainly a good guide for those who want to dress well.

Cufflinks are not as popular as ties because they rely on cuff, that means the support of shirts. Fully agree that we should learn how to match and choose the cufflinks properly.
