A cherry has a very exciting and rich history of fighting gout and arthritis pain naturally. You see in 1950 a PH.D. by the name of Ludwig Blau wrote in the Texas Reports on Biology and Medicine a claim that cherries cured his painful and crippling gout. Mr. Blau's gout was so bad that it confined him to a wheelchair. However, according to his findings, he simply at six to eight cherries each day and as long as he ate these cherries, the gout stayed away.

In 2003, the Journal of Nutrition published an article outlining the results of an anti-inflammatory study using cherries. This study was conducted at the US Agricultural Research Service Western Nutrition Research Center located in David, California. The research gave 45 volunteers fresh cherries and closely monitored their plasma urate (Plasma urate is a precursor to the formation of uric acid crystals. Uric acid crystals helps to cause gout pain between the joint). According to the study, the plasma urate levels of the volunteers significantly decreased 5 hours after they consumed the cherries for the study.

Also, according to published research by Dr. Muralee Nair from Michigan State University, suggests eating about 20 or so cherries per day may help to reduce the ache and swelling of the a sudden gout attack. According to Dr. Nair, "daily consumption of cherries has the potential to reduce pain related to information, arthritis and gout."

So what makes the cherries an amazing gout and arthritis fighting machine?

While the definite answer to that question is still out, many researchers believe it is the synergistic benefits of all of the naturally occurring photochemicals found in the cherry. These include the Anthocyanins, Melatonin and more. So if you're like countless joint pain sufferers searching for a proven and non prescription drug way to fight gout and arthritis pain naturally, you'll find the tart cherry is exactly what you're searching for.

Where to Find Cherries

Unfortunately, cherries are a very perishable fruit. That is why you'll only find them during a few short weeks during the summer harvest. Once the harvest is complete the majority of the cherries are frozen, concentrated for made into cherry powder. One company that offers complete selection of tart cherry juice products is Traverse Bay Farms http://www.traversebayfarms.com Once you try the cherry for your joint pain, you'll wonder how you ever did without it.
