Am I dreaming or is this Memorex? I watched Chicago being voted out of the race for the 2012 Olympics. I still cannot understand, why people of America were so happy and jubilant as a country after not even being considered for the events. I myself thought with my ignorance, and said, how could I enjoy a slap in my face? I remembered, Dear Ole Mom when she said, "The devil will kill self, just to destroy you. She was talking about the hate built up in people's heart and living without even knowing it. They live as right in themselves.
With my educated mind, I said, they have forgotten the nation was overlooked and said Obama failed. I know some will argue. I also know that words can be cut both ways. But, it is hard to see men and women in high positions of so-called leadership, to crawl with the most ignorant of lowliness. Then I think of the ones that agree with them and voted for them. If my Christian Ethics were correct, I would say they are in the right position for God to use them as a footstool for the President of these United States of America.
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplication, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." 1 Timothy 2:1-2
This new era upon which we have entered is rich with the promise of a higher and a universal development of fraternal relations. The great truth, the solidarity of the race, established by God, has locked arms with the greater truth, upheld by Christianity, that all men were meant to be brothers beloved in Jesus Christ. The old days of greed that he inherited appears to be coming to an end. Somehow we have allowed businesses to become too big to fail. AIG is an example.
In the early 1970(s) at Wayne State University in Detroit, the Professor of my Political Science class stated: "It is politically corrupt to allow a business to become too big to fail. Then you know that greed has ripped the nation and no business should be bigger than the nation. Greed has then taken over capitalism." Is that why the filled pockets keep echoing "Socialism, Socialism?" What is Socialism? Public Ownership? Then, "of the people, by the people, and for the people is simply a pretty statement for our country and not reality. It appears that is why greed is afraid of "Main Street." However, I do not have the expertise to say it is. But, I have the Thomas Payne syndrome to say it is.
I do know that our President never stated Socialism. Every adversary starting with Limbaugh stated: "Under the Obama plan, every body gets their share whether they have to work for it or not, including the illegal Mexicans. Then Lou Dobbs came aboard with the same comment...etc. However, to someone as stupid as I, I would say they do not want anyone to do their tricks, hoard monies. We have finances in this country; they are in the pockets.
Satan's legion is on duty because a new generation of society has appeared in response to the growing reversal in human relationship in this country called, the United States of America. Men of every nation and condition are active in the ranks of this change through President elect Obama, the man who carries God on his shirtsleeve. (To me that say, God is his arm).
Social problems, such as vast accumulations of capital, the relations of employer and employee, the enormous reduction of cities, housing the poor, compulsory education, are receiving careful consideration on the part of this statesman. Legislators, and even the ordinary voters are taking note of this downturn from such a strong and blessed nation. If a nation as this is in peril, check the leadership or the lack of leadership.
Christianity takes issue with them and holds that besides the good of self and the good of others, there is another and more powerful incentive to virtue and that is the will of God. Do this and you compose self-good and your neighbor is pleased? Be unsuccessful to do it and the knot of brotherhood is broken and we head towards the reality of kismet or doom. One thing for certain, there can be no permanent real, soul satisfying unification without Christ. He is and must be the core. Dr Clarence Rucker, Jr

Rev, thank you for sharing - I think you said it all when you quoted 1 Timohty 2:1-2 This is what Christians need to be spending their time doing, not bashing, hating, and throwing around self-righteous junk. On the other hand, it doesn't mean we close our eyes and not pay attention to how all of this plays into Prophecy - we need to make a stand, but we need to do it with balance of love and knowledge. Blessings to you! Teresa
Your last 2 sentences say it all "One thing for certain, there can be no permanent real, soul satisfying unification without Christ. He is and must be the core." We can surely solidly agree upon that! Thanks for sharing your insights. Marijo
CR - I haven't researched this but have heard both sides of the Olympic argument. Most of what I heard, including from mainstream media is that Chicago residents, largely, did not want the Olympics mainly because of the debt that could result. To look at the US not getting the Olympics as an Obama failure is like saying every past instance the US has not gotten the Olympics is the fault of the POTUS. "Satan's legion" is always on duty, much more than we could ever comprehend, but I don't think it is because not everyone voted for Obama. I may have misinterpreted your point. I, also, believe words can be spun both ways and statistics can be manipulated to desired results. As long as we are on this earth there will be differing opinions. That is not a bad thing. I am wondering about God on Obama's shirtsleeve. I've not heard that one before. Can you give more information? Interesting points, but could easily be converted into 2 or 3 articles, bringing out more on each point. I have read your work before and see your passion.

"I haven't researched this but have heard both sides of the Olympic argument. Most of what I heard, including from mainstream media is that Chicago residents, largely, did not want the Olympics mainly because of the debt that could result." You are correct....."To look at the US not not getting the Olympics as an Obama failure." You misread me, Limbaugh and the leader Republicans states he is a failure. I am shocked you have not heard that on the news or listen to Newt......."I am wondering about God on Obama's shirtsleeve." Remember, the Republicans says Obama looking for peace shows a sign of weakness for this country. However, all other nations listen to his words as peace. Remember, many other leaders call him brother...... "I have read your work before and see your passion." And I say to you. So far I have been fortunate to reach out to my neighbors. What peace it is to awake and not have odds with your nrighbor.
Thank you, Dr. Clarence, for a wonderfully, well-written article. And I too, was disappointed when we didn't get the Olympics for Chicago. Maybe next time.

Ken, you are correct. A sane man does not argue truth. Your opinion is very legitimate, honest, and true. Note: Since I have been reading your articles, I have sensed nothing more than a fair mind. That is all needed. Thanks again Ken.
Interesting take on all this, I don't agree but I can see that your article was well thought out, and that you have a strong belief in what you are saying. That is the great thing about our country is that we are all allowed to have our own opinion and have the forum to voice it.
Dr. Rucker thank you for this clear biblical and Christian exposition regarding the politics of greed and mean-spiritiness and the Christianity of love and truth. Thank, thank you, thank you. This was a blessing. Keep on pressing brother!
You write with passion. I do not always follow your message. Is your message that Obama is intimately aligned with God? Personally, I believe in small government and as much individual freedom as possible. God will judge greedy people whether they are socialist or capitalist. I regret that so many people in the US today whole-heartedly believe that it is okay to expect other people to provide their food, housing, medical care and anything else the government is willing to provide but taxing the so-called rich. Socialism seems to hurt more than filthy rich people. It kills incentive to provide for oneself. My ancestors came from Italy with nothing. My grandfather lived in Chicago without heat in the winter because he would not take a hand out from the city. He worked day and night and retired with something to show for it and three educated kids. Fortunately, he died while Regan was the president, and the government did not take all his earnings. Some of that inheritance paid for my college education, and it helped my uncle raise 9 kids. I plan to leave a legacy to my children and hopefully help more than my own. I hope the government does not take what I earn. Our nation certainly is in a political war right now. I hope the conflict remains only a political conflict.

Do not worry about it being taken, it already has. This Administration is calling the people together, (listen carefully please, "of the people, by the people, for the people.) People working cooperatively is called the Government. The problem is that some have made "Government" sound ugly and greedy. Greed came through capitalism and left us broke. Many of our parents made less and put my six brothers and sisters through school also. However, those jobs do not exsist now and the cost of living has exceeded expectation of some. It went from owning to credit. The more people work, the prices will take its limits. I was an engineer and was laid off under Raegan. I had a savings in the bank, but, he ended up taxing that. I had less of what I had. The poor guy who did not make as much as I did, and did not have as much as I had, lost his job and was taxed on his savings. Through Raegan if you recall, downsizing, cutbacks, and retirement were cut and eventually disappeared. Your comment is worthy. Like many leaders, ministers, we have the uncanny ability to step out of our shoes into another. Even now, I have mine, but, if my brother suffers long enough, it will catch up with me. A good example, every body was against hip hop. Now every kid you see in America almost is dressed, hip hop. Life catches a hold of life. Other words it is a circular flow, eventually it will hit and devastate you and I.
