Gratitude

I am grateful for the sunrise,
The start of an early day
For the grey clouds are made golden,
When touched by sun's ray

I am grateful for that gentle breeze,
That soothes my heated body
The way it moves the trees, to dance,
As they sway their bodies

I am grateful for the singing birds
They sing so joyfully
You trust them with your heart, on wing
A flight of ecstasy

I am grateful for the little things
The songs I sing so mild
The laughter of little child
The tickles that drive her wild

Lost at Sea

Lost in a world that doesn't care
Floundering in a place that is, nowhere,
Never here, never there
Drowning in my own despair

Blackness has filled my heart,
My compass broken from the start,
No navigator, only the stars,
It is only me ,who can see my scars

You would not believe me,
I will tell the truth
You would struggle with the facts,
even with proof!

You see I'm in charge of this rogue ship
Full of liars, thieves and God knows what other shit!
Soon to be derelict, maiden voyage past,
A wallowing wreck, cracks in the mast,

Ropes frayed, sails torn
Not of this world, never born,
It won't be long till she meets the bottom,
With all hands, all that is rotten

Thanks again,

David,

reading your work has indeed inspired me, I just added two more of my poems, however, the "copyright question" still bugs me!
