Who would ever want an unscented pillar candle? Isn't that part of the enjoyment of candles – smelling the wonderful fragrance?
Well, pillar candles have been around for eons. They are used in "special" situations where someone is looking more for the look of a burning candle than its fragrance, or, in other words trying to create a special ambiance. These situations would include ceremonies, weddings, special events or any place, like a restaurant, where you are trying to create a special setting, and, perhaps may have people in attendance who might react, or be allergic, to the fragrance of a candle. Additionally one usually doesn't want the fragrance of a candle to mix with the flavorful aroma or food.
The use of multiple unscented pillar candles gives you the ability to have a beautifully lit area without the overpowering fragrances of candles.
What are pillar candles? They are usually a larger type of candle that is dripless, self supporting, needs no holder to set on or be contained in and burns for quite a while.
Pillar candles can be square or round, but sometimes come in other shapes. The pillar candle is usually designated by a nomenclature such as 4 x 9. This would mean the candle is 4 inches in diameter and 9 inches high. Sizes vary both in diameter and height.
