If you own a butane lighter that is refillable, having extra butane stored so that it is readily available is important regardless of how long your lighter lasts on a single refill. Otherwise, you may have to settle for something less than desirable to light your cigar or pipe with when you want to enjoy a smoke.

For most smokers, butane lighters are the preferred source of fire for lighting tobacco as these lighters leave no unusual flavor or odors on the tobacco. This is why it is of the utmost importance to always have extra fuel on hand in order to ensure the most enjoyable smoking experience.

How do you store butane for your refillable torch lighter?  Actually, storage is quite simple and should not pose a problem for anyone.  Butane comes in a pressurized canister; you'll find you can purchase many different canister sizes and brands of butane, as well. By law, these canisters must come with storage and usage instructions on the side of the container.  Simply following these instructions will help you avoid accidents and ensure that you always have a supply of butane on hand for your lighter.

Storage is the first step to proper butane safety. Make sure to keep it out of the reach of kids when storing butane in the home. Almost all canisters are able to withstand high temperatures. So even if you live in climate conditions that are considerably warmer, your butane will still store well. Quite simply, you should utilize the same methods of storing your butane that you use for storing your lighter. For example, don't put the butane canister in direct sunlight. This may cause the temperature of the canister to exceed safe levels. Instead, store your fuel in a dry, cool place, out of direct sun, and far from any other possible sources of extreme heat.

Don't ever keep your butane container in your vehicle. Temperatures inside of a car or truck on hot, sunny days can climb to very high levels. The home is always the safest choice for storing your butane as it is more safe from the extreme temperatures of a garage or car. Also, be sure that the tip of the canister remains undamaged and does not become clogged. If the canister tip does get clogged or becomes damaged, either remove the clog or throw the damaged container away and purchase a new one. Simply following these safety tips and steps will ensure that your fuel stays safe and that you always have it on hand when you need it.
