There are many plastic surgery procedures that your face can benefit from including chin augmentation, ear pinning, and blepharoplasty. Mentoplasty, also known as chin surgery or chin augmentation is a plastic surgery procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an implant or reduction surgery on the bone. Many times a plastic surgeon may recommend chin surgery to a patient having nose surgery in order to achieve facial proportion, as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose. Chin augmentation helps provide a harmonious balance to your facial features so that you feel better about the way you look.

Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is usually done to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. For the most part, the operation is done on children between the ages of four and 14. Ears are almost fully grown by age four, and the earlier the surgery, the less teasing and ridicule the child will have to endure. Ear surgery on adults is also possible, and there are generally no additional risks associated with ear surgery on an older patient.

Ear pinning usually takes about two to three hours, although complicated procedures may take longer. The technique used by the plastic surgeon will depend on the problem. With one of the more common techniques, the surgeon makes a small incision in the back of the ear to expose the ear cartilage. Your cosmetic surgeon will then sculpt the cartilage and bend it back toward the head. Non-removable stitches may be used to help maintain the new shape. Occasionally, the plastic surgeon will remove a larger piece of cartilage to provide a more natural-looking fold when the surgery is complete.

Blepharoplasty aims to rejuvenate the eye by removing excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. The plastic surgery procedure can transform tired appearing, baggy, poorly defined eyes into crisper, more youthful appearing eyes. However, it won't remove crow's feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. The best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are both physically and psychologically healthy, and realistic in their expectations. Most are 35 or older, but if droopy, baggy eyelids run in your family, you may elect to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.

The upper eyelid incision is well camouflaged in the natural fold and contour of the upper eyelid through which excess fat, skin, and muscle may be removed. The procedure is approximately one hour in length and is performed as an outpatient in an accredited surgery center. The lower eyelid incision is well concealed in the lash line of the lower eyelid through which excess fat, skin, and muscle are removed. In addition, a lax lower lid can be tightened through this incision. If you only need to have excess fat removed, this can be performed through an incision along the inside of the eyelid without an external incision.
