Failure to become pregnant after many tries may be one of the telltale signs that progesterone infertility is haunting you. The hormone is considered to be a particularly important part of the reproductive system; a lack of it can cause a major failure within the body.  It is a multifunctional hormone, as it has the ability to ready the eggs for ovulation, and even is involved in implanting the fertilized egg. It is important to make sure that there is enough progesterone within the body, because if not, then you may run into issues following conception. If you are already pregnant you could have a miscarriage.

In order to avoid this, you're going to want to know a little more about this hormone, and even why it causes infertility. So let's see exactly how we can raise progesterone levels today by using modern science and medicine.

Among the most important female hormones, progesterone definitely stands out as one of the most influential.  After the process of ovulation takes place, this hormone is created by egg follicles within the ovaries.  The menstrual cycle is highly dependent on this. It is what gets the uterus ready for the conception, and thickens the endometrial lining. If there is a lacking of this hormone, the thickening will not occur. In addition to this, the hormone has the ability to make the basal temperature rise. Failing to fertilize the eggs will cause the progesterone source to vanish. The lining will exit during the next menstrual cycle.

If the hormone is not produced in sufficient quantities, then you will end up with a shortened luteal phase. Normally it's a phase that lasts approximately two weeks, and if it is short, then the obulation process will not run the full course. Therefore there is no pregnancy.

In the event fertilization does occur, then the progesterone levels will proceed and increase. The baby will be provided the protection that it needs throughout the entire pregnancy. Though during the pregnancy it is possible for those levels to drop, thereby creating a miscarriage.

This is obviously a simplification of the process.  If one is very careful, one will indeed be able to detect the clues of progesterone infertility, and it can be boosted synthetically. Sometimes the whole issue is the result of an excess of estrogen, and of course this is going to take much more than the normal treatment. Speak with your physician regarding possible ways you might go about treating the problem. This isn't a huge problem anymore, at least as far as treatment is concerned. The existing treatments have been quite effective, and as long as they are started promptly.

There have been many studies launched, and so far they tend to indicate that the therapy has reached a rate of over seventy percent success; this outcome is only achieved if the source is accurately diagnosed however. One thing to consider is that there are other causes for the shortening of the luteal phase. Progesterone infertility however, is one of the causes that can actually be managed. We hope that this has given you some idea of how serious progesterone infertility actually is, and will help you to act on any suspicions you might have in the future.
