This is a very personal poem, it highlights the struggles my partner and I were dealing with at the time. I wrote this in a letter to her, stating how I felt, and essentially I was saying goodbye. This letter saved our relationship, it taught us both a lot, I have grown to really understand, not only my Fiance's perspective, but the very nature of compassion itself.

I dedicate this, to my love, Yasmine. It is truly, a love letter, enjoy.

And Still We Try

I was living in a boarding house, addiction all around

And had a heap of rules, to which I was bound.

If you don't like to be "shushed", maybe you're too loud,

I know I can be too, I stand out from the crowd

All I got was worry, some concern and complaint.

I wanted to make you happy, I could only show restraint.

You criticized the things I did, questioned my very soul

Held no hope for us, no chance to grow old

Our future you foresaw, you created with a mould

Negatives and horrors, suspicion by the bowl

All the above, guaranteed your goal
.

Our love was stunted from the start, on backs of broken hearts

We both knew this , straight up, but still we made a start.

Our chances for success were at a low mark.

We still, however, had a go, no direction on our chart.

Life itself is like this, this risk we had to take.

To fill ourselves with each other, was this a mistake?

I followed you and owned my stuff, changed my way of life.

I begged you to believe in me, I asked you for my wife.

Now I sit, quite alone, heart bleeding, as it groans

Humility takes its toll, I choose not to moan,

My lesson is the truth, the cost alone too high

Tonight I lose my burden, for thats the tears I cry.

I saw, one day, an angel, her heart was pure and just,

We lay upon the grass, that day, just us.

I won't forget that moment. My love, full, in my arms

I will cherish you forever, for I know who you are.

I hope ,one day, we see each other

I hope we will not miss

Rest assured my lady

This is sealed with a kiss.
