I did this cartoon as a result of a conversation I was having with someone. We were discussing the loss of the Olympics in the U.S.A. and why the President might have made the journey as he probably already knew that the U.S.A. was out of the running or maybe it wasn't clear at that point. Who knows? Anyway, during this discussion, the U.N. speech also came up. The topic was the difference in the speeches. On one hand you had a President who was in some instances talking less than positive tone about the U.S.A. and other countries as well in some attempt to get some unity I'm sure. Then a week or two later you have the sales pitch for the Olympics where the U.S.A. and more specifically Chicago was the cat's meow. It was probably the short time between the two speeches but it struck me as nothing more than pandering to whatever audience happened to be there. Anyway, that's where this cartoon came from. Enjoy and have a great day.
